I'm sure they're decent, but honestly check your grocery store :) Mine carries those bulbs and many more CFL's for very decent prices. I think a 3 pack is $8 or so. I use CFL's in every socket in my house too ;)

Well I would look up the manufacture and check out his calms that they are as good as T5. That I would check out very carefully my friend before I put down any cash for anything.
T5 is about as good as they get in fluorescent lights these day's.

yeah T5 HO are expensive for a reason. lights are not something you want to skimp to hard on...them being the main thing that makes your plant grow. You get what you pay for in the end.

Racer x you are a god among men. I agree 100% - if you get a grow light spend at least $200 and get a good one or you will be kicking yourself later no joke.

Don't buy either of those at least not off of Ebay. Both of those adds are kind of bogus. They aren't 75 or 100 watters. For instance, these 3 cfl lights will blow any of those away on Ebay. They do cost more though
ValuTek Compact Fluorescent Lights
The 55 watt and the 125 watt are both medium based sockets as well. They also have a good spectrum for veg. If you are going to buy off the web get a a little better cfl or as mentioned just go to home depot and pick up a pack off of the shelf for cheap.

Good call on the cfl's in your house MisterE...I've done the same thing and found it helped the electric bill...They say every regular bulb you switch out not only saves you money in bulb costs but takes like a million cars or somethin off the road...
I've heard great things about the T5's but the easiest thing to check is just the rating of the bulb itself...find out the manufacturer and then look up at a search engine the specifications like the spectrum and kelvin temp...I've read that low kelvin temp bulbs are good for veg around 2000-3000 kelvin and 4000-65000 kelvin are good for bloom but you can read as indepth as ya want on the subject...I know when I got my floro's I just went with GE 20W grow lights and they've worked just fine for me...I wouldn't worry so much if yer just getting a few cheapies to get the grow started rather spend some serious time deciding how you are going to bloom them cause the light you choose for that will vary widely depending on how much ya want to yield and the temps of the room etc

ehhh.... ur alittle backwards on the specrum/kelvin. I use standard t12/t8 lights, there cheap and get the vegging done, then a nice hps for flower. t5 by newtek makes nice stuff and its a whole set up. u have many mnay options,
