My plants all keep toppling over!! Why do they do this? My 400W MH is like a foot above them, so there is no way that they aren't getting enough light. Any suggestions/ways for me to get to the
"root" of my problem?

what exactly do you mean, toppling over??? plz explain so i may try and help you resolve this problem.
piks?
The sprouts just fall over and the place where it pinches when it falls shrivels up. I am supporting the plant up with bent paperclips right now.
OK...lol 1st there are no plants. If your sprouts cannot stand by themselves, then start over. most likely stem rot.
that's damping-off...pythium...
you need to start with a STERILE growing medium.
And replace the 400mh with a couple CFLs until they are big enough to give ferts to, about 3 weeks old.
oh and keep your humidity way down and don't overwater the seedlings.
Ok well put. I replaced the 400W with cooltubes. Also, I don't have access to only tap water from my bathtub for the res. Is this a big problem? I have pH down because the water is about pH 8 to begin with.
didn't know you were in hydro...I water with tap water, but I'm in dirt. Wait for a hydro guru to stop by and comment on the res.
the seedling toppling thing is a fungus aggravated by high humidity, little airflow, and the presence of spores... you should sterilize everything before starting again.
Ok...well theres a carpet in the growroom unfortunately so it may have caused this fungus. I was also told that high humidity is better for seedlings.
