Vaporizers. What are they like?

Hi. I'm considering buying a vaporizer, but would like to know what your experience is of them?

A friend bought a "Blue Meanie" which the person in the shop called a Vaporizer, but it was just a metal tray that heated up, thus causing the weed to smoke (you then suck that smoke out using a tube).

I couldn't see the difference between that and burning it with a lighter to be honest - is this all a Vaporizer does? I don't want to spend $200 on something that is little more than a hot plate! :cool:

Would appreciate your advice / experiences / recommendations.

A vaporiser heats the thc to combustion point, releasing vapors but not smoke.

this is a far healthier way to get high, it also has a much different feel...or so i'm told. Ive never used one, but thats the difference.

A vaporizer heats it to a point where it's not actually hot enough to burn it, but hot enough to vaporize the thc. It's a much more noticeably different cleaner up high. It's a lot different than the average stoned just wanna sit here feeling. Make sure you invest in a good vaporizer, if you get a shitty one than you're wasting your money.

u 2 above guys are right it does just heat it up to a point it cooks the THC. and iv smoked out of one plently of times. my dealer has 1 and its fucking intense. id rather smoke out of that every day then a bong. the high is way better, healthier and you save on weed to. Vaporizers are expensive but in the long run your saviing on weed. this vaporizer cost my budy around $600 or so. i know he got a deal on it but id suggest dropping big coin on a vaporizer. cause honestly if ur planning on dropping $200 on a vaporizer it ant gonna last long.
