PLEASE RESPOND QUICK!!:solvents around plants?
hey guys
i recently found a new grow box it huge, like 2ft by 1ft, just for small plants and i painted the inside of them white, and the smell is really strong, like a solvent smell but not unbearable, i'm wondering i've put my plants there and will the smell do any damage to the plants as the breathe the air around it.
please any help i dont want them to die now as this is the furthest ive ever got

Yup. Air it out good before you put them in there otherwise they might get a little stressed. (Just like you would having to smell that smell!) Peace.

u aint bein serious bout smokin in there that would only clog the paws man an stop the plant from resparating like leave a layer of smoke oil over em. how would u like to have ur asshole blocked u wouldnt be able to shit therefore you would die similar in this case the plants cant breath in c2o or expel there toxic chemicals through the leaves soz man if im bein too serious just what iv learnt in my time of growin lataz weedos

Air exchange does sound like a point to me weedos. I would also wonder if the solvent would at some point leach into the soil and be toxic. Perhaps the paint would prevent that? I always read that (for hydro) you should only use food-grade supplies, plastic etc...but I am just guessing.

what the heck did you use for paint? i am a painter by trade and 99% of paints dry in 2-4 hrs(or less) and cure in 7days so they are completely inert at that point and there is no problem with solvent leaching as long as you don't reintroduce the same sovent that you paint uses for a base. ie. putting paint thinner on oil paint or putting denatured alcohol on shellac based paint. just wait a few days with the cab. open and you will be fine.
