I believe you are suppose to put a finger or so over the carb as you are sucking and lighting the bowl. It's suppose to make all the smoke get trapped in the chamber and you get it all when you release your finger or something. Don't really know how to explain it, but I do it and it works and is the proper way to smoke a bowl.
well, its there, because most people consider it neccisary for a few reasons.
it allows you to clear the chamber, so theres no stale taste on your next hit(just puuure glassy goodness), it allows you to moderate airflow and hti thickness, like sometimes when my throats hurtin or something, ill kinda on off the carb so ill get tiny bursts if you will of smoke. not to mention its handy when cleaning etc.
its not really what is the carb FOR, but how YOU decide to use it. i know some peoepl who just dont use it at all and always hold their finger on it.
A carb, or "rushole, shotgun" is meant so that you can have a source of pure air when you're hitting it. Cover it when you start to spark it, when you throat starts burning a bit, uncover it, recover it, uncover it etc. until you've taken a satisfactory hit. The point of a carb is just so you have more control over the size of your hits, and decreases the chance that you're going to cough.
Think of it as a clutch.
i kinda wondered about this to loll
i guess there's some decent answers in here
knowledge is power...
airflow..when the carb is covered airflow is restricted to go through the bowlhead allowing one to light the substance easier then releasing clears..why is there a slide on a bong and such
Its there just for good looks....nothing to do with simple air pressure.
You can plug it if you want....
i really like the clutch analogy!
Uh... it does what all the other people above you said. A carb does not make it look 'good'. They are right, because when you hold it, the smoke gets trapped, it creams up real nice. Look at your pipe, if you have one, and hold it while you are hitting it. The stem of the pipe fills up completely with smoke. When you release the carb while taking the hit, the air comes through the carb and helps push the smoke into your lungs.Quote:
