How long can I veg once preflowering starts
I just noticed calyx(sp), preflowering happening and I was hoping to get my plants upto atleast a foot and a half, right now they are a little under a foot. How long can I drag it out. We've been using 16/8 lighting, if I put it up to 18/6 will that help?

You can veg as long as you like, in fact I've heard it's better to veg until the plant is mature, and it sounds like yours is. I don't think there's any harm in continuing to veg until you reach the desired height. 18/6 is better than 16/8 so go ahead and give that a try, I bet that will help your girlie grow faster. Peace!

if your gonna put it in 12/12 i say do it gradually, it may grow bigger?!? i dunno.. but its worth a shot, after all, thats how shit goes down in nature...

I would leave your lighting the way it is. Your plants won't grow as fast as they would under 18hrs of light, but you don't want to mess around with your light period now- it will only stress out your plants. you can also veg your plants indefinitely if you want, ie. you can veg them as long as you want before flowering and nothing but good (correct me if im wrong) will come of that.
as for switching the light cycle gradually before flowering...well i personally wouldn't do it, but i think it's sort of just a personal choice for the grower. there are probably dozens of debates on this subject on these boards.

Thanks guys for all the info, I also went back to kp's college, with all that combined with the fact that this veg cab I figured I will have to eventually bump it up to 18/6 to increase yeild and decrease time. So I had the lights turn on 2 hours early today, because I still want another 6"-8" from some of the plants so they should have time to adjust.
I've also heard that at this point I should gradually increase my P in my nutrient solution, is this true or should I wait till I'm a little closer to flowering?

You did the right thing by going to the 18/6.That is nature's veg cycle. Here in Ga.It get's to be about 17 1/2 hours at peek and then gradually decreases. Thus, forcing flowering at about 14-15 hours of light, depending on the strain.I mostly grow an indica or an afgahan. They seem to be the best yeilders.I like to flower at about 12 inches indoors. If you live where the days and season is a bit longer, then go with a sativa/indica.We just got hunters to worry about here.Mine will finish about first part of Sept.
Ga Grown!

It depends on the strain whether they get pre-flowers, but even if they do you can still keep them in the veg cycle until you are ready to put them to flower ...

I had clones that were taken from a flowering mother so they had preflowers their entire 2 month veg time. Cannabis (except a few strains like LowRyder) won't flower under 18 hrs of light...it can be kept that way for years as mother plants, so no need to worry about your preflowers.
