The Ups And Downs Of Being A Human...

So...lately I've been thinking, we as humans are basically without a doubt the most "Successful" creatures on the planet. But when i think about why we're so "Successful" I realize that those same reasons are the roots of all our problems. We as humans never seem to be content, there are good things that come with that trait, like ever-evolving technology and new advancements in everything we do, we become smarter and smarter and are able to do things no other creatures can do. On the other hand, why is it that rich people are willing to spend millions on such ridiculous indulgences like diamonds and overpriced handbags? Aren't there other things that money could be used for? Perhaps that same money could be used for some food for a starving child? If you really sit down and think about this and weigh the importance of another persons life, compared to you getting to drive your $100K Ferrari, isn't it a pretty easy choice? But for some reason humans would rather just satisfy their own "discontent" with whatever they currently have. If you asked a caveman what he would want if he could ask anything, theres no doubt in my mind that he would fail to mention that he'd like some caviar, instead i think our humble ancestor would simply ask for a fire and some shelter. But of course after he got those things he would want more and would eventually lead to where we are now. Its not just rich people though, I'm very guilty of this, for example, i eat candy. Now candy seems pretty normal to us in todays time but now give this same candy bar to caveman bob, and he'd be dumbfounded! Think about what a candy bar really is, its specifically made ONLY for taste, not for hunger, not for nutritional value, its even BAD for you! Its a big hunk of taste, and we destroy our bodies with it while kids starve to death. Anyway yeah I think I'll add more later, and yeah I'm not sure i know why i wrote this, just a few things on my mind

Is it really wrong for someone to spend hard-earned money? If you are wealthy, I agree that you should give to charity and the like but do you think people are going to go to school, spend time and money educating themselves, then give away all the money they earn? You don't need a $100k car, but hell you gotta enjoy what your working for.
