Marinol and cooking or additions

I discovered accidently that smoking (now vaping) marijuana can help me to sleep through the nite. It doesn't work completely every nite, and is dependent on the quality of herb that I have on hand. Marijuana also took away most of the nausea I experienced constantly (reason unknown). The supplement Pregnelolone took away the remaining nausea.

Marijuana used to make me nauseous and I stopped smoking it for years and years because of it. So something has changed, probably hormonally in my now aging body, and marijuana has changed my life, feeling of well being, even my memory has imporved as I now can get some needed improved sleep.

I have a prescription for Marinol and find that it does not work well enough. I wondered if Marinol had THC that was not decarboxylated so I tried heating it before taking my prescribed dose. Alas I still don't feel good after a night on Marinol. Last nigt for example I took one 2.5 mg dose, felt woosy but OK enough to function around the house. I actually slept pretty good, but woke up feeling hung over. The first dosage I tried was 5 mg and I asked for a lower dose 'cause I felt so terrible the next day. On Marinol I feel almost bad as some of the sleep meds I have tried.

On a good nite after vaping marijuana I wake up smiling and feel great, energetic and rested for some time. I never feel hung over from the marijuana...only still feel the lack of sleep on occasion.

So I am wondering of one can get some cannabinoids from hemp oil, seeds or flour that can make up for the lack of them in Marinol. Hemp food products are only tested for low THC content, they will still have other cannabinoids. But which and how much, that is what I want to know about. If you have any detailed info/research/clinical or otherwise, or know of a source to obtain same, please post :o

BTW, I have sleep and other docs so I'm not posting here asking for sleep remedies. But if you have an educated idea why marijuana causes an increase in sleep efficiency please post. I've looked at the published research related to cannabis, etc., and sleep. What I'm looking for may be unpublished or in a lab somewhere or other.

i think the sleep you are experiencing is just the 'burn out' you feel after injesting it. did you go to bed immediatly after you vaped, or did you putz around the house for a while? i know that after I injest an indica dominant strain, i feel very sleepy after about 1-2 hours. this is comman with indica strains. i find it hard to fall asleep immediatly after injesting any type of maryjane, it takes an hour or to in order to come down to reach that tired feeling.
i would most definetly not recommend trying to extract cannabinoids from any hemp products. hemp comes from the male plant which has very little or no THC. i remember the legend of a kid who smoked his hemp wallet thinking it would get him high and just getting a headache instead. besides, hemp fibers come from the stalk. the maryjane you are used to vaping comes from the female flower, not the stalk or the leaves.
the same goes for hemp curd from the seeds. the seeds contain no THC either.
i would stick to smoking indica strains a few hours before bedtime. while your high, go on a walk or get some exercise to help you sleep even better.

I am talking about a major sleep disorder, so bad I can barely function at times. I was taking up to 800 mg Provigil (MD prescribed) just to stay awake in the daytime and go to work. Pot had turned around my medication use.

I need to use pot just before turning in, while in bed actually is when I do it. When I use it earlier in the day/nite and not at bedtime I don't sleep as well. Cannabis doesn't just cause 'burnout'. About my questions regarding hemp products. I am not suggesting at all that I or anyone smoke or otherwise try to extract anything from hemp. Hemp does contain cannabinoids other than THC. THC seems to be the only one the feds care about so hemp products are regulated to make sure they don't naturally contain a significant amount of THC. I am interested in eating hemp products that are made for the food industry, not eating or smoking your wallet or shirt :-) Are there any academic or true clinical researchers reading this board?

I think you are referring to the other cannibinoids in marijuana such as CBD (cannabidol) and CBN (cannabinol). CBD is generally known to give you that sleepy feeling.

have you tried putting your marinol liquid on your bud and then smoking it?
i believe marinol is a liquid in a capsule, correct?
this could(hypothetically) increase the potency if your weed

Nope, haven't tried smoking or vaping marinol. I doubt that oil vapors are good for you and are probably harmful. If I thought that the oil vapors were safe, I'd try it to use with pot that doesn't work well enough.

Thanks for th link, I haven't come across that site before. Anandamide makes us sleepy, we make it as an endocannabinoid and it's in chocolate as well. Alas, it takes 25 lbs of chocolate to have an effect you can notice.
