Yesterday (Christmas Eve day) at my aunt's, we had turkey, ham, dressing, green beans, potatoes (sweet and white) and everything else in the world. It was very much like a re-do of Thanksgiving, but it was good. Then last night for a late supper at home, which was supposed to be light since we'd eaten so much at her house, we had Italian, cooked by my mother-in-law. "Light" wasn't the word to describe it.
Today for Christmas dinner at our house, we had homemade cream of mushroom soup, rib roast with au jus (juice gravy) and/or horseradish sauce, steamed asparagus and sliced red bell peppers with hollandaise, oven roasted herb potatoes, creamed onions, popovers, and then three choices of desserts. We all need to be hospitalized now. But it was good, if I do say so myself. Everyone just woke up from the nap we all needed after eating that meal. I hope my pants fit tomorrow after these last two days . . . .
