Ski or Snowboard

The snow is starting to hit the local mountains here in Socal. I can't snowboard but I can ski, I learned to ski first. It is fun as hell to haul ass down a mountain. I hope to go at least once this year. Who else? Any good ski stories?

When I first learned how to ski. My first time I ever went I was in Switzerland when I was stationed in Germany. I remember I was going sown this mountain out of control, didn't know how to stop and I just ended up plowing into 5 people waiting for the ski lift. One was even an old lady. Then I spoke English and they knew I was American. So, they probably still hate America.

I know how to do both, I'm extremely good at skiing, and ok at snowboarding.

Where did you go in Switzerland? I been to most of the resorts there, Zermatt, St. Moritz, Klosters, Grindelwald, Port De Soleli, Gstadd/Sannanmoser/Zweizerman, Grindelwald/Schilthorn/jungfraujoch region, many more I forgot the names off.

My greatest memory skiing was with several friends having snowball fights going down the mountain. Those were the days!

I also remember I was so high, I was following my brother, were doing figure 8s, and I end up crashing into him.

I dont remember. It was long time ago. But I still got the lift ticket somewhere. Getting stoned in the cold is fun. Plus when you blow the smoke out, it looks like the hugest hit ever.

I don't know dude. I would be afraid I would go over the edge or fall into a ice crevice. I would skydive before I would hike a mountain in the winter.
Never heard of Baldy Bowl. Is it by mount Baldy? How far is that hike? That shit would be fun.

im a snowboarder, spent the whole summer in New Zealand and Australia snowboarding, i love it...unfortuanetly im gunna have to wait till presidents weekend to go snowboarding, my friends taking me to Beaver Creek, the only place out west i ever went snowboarding was Vail once, and i heard the snows great this year. so im really excited...any1 know how Beaver Creek is for snowboarders im going with a skier, so i assume its more of a skiers mountain, any1 been there?

i'm a casual snowboarder. tried tha black run at mt buller and almost took my head off, but it was hella fun.

That same thing happened to me at Beech Mt in North Carolina back in 77. I was coming down the hill out of control and crashed into everyone on the lift line. No one got hurt but my pride was destroyed.
I have not gone skiing in over 25 years and was thinking about going to one of these So Cal mountains to ski. What do lift tickets and all the equipmnet rentals cost now a days?

been a skier for 25 years, snowboarder for 10+ Spent most of my winters in years past at a ski area all winter, when I was a kid it was just every weekend though. Ended up as a Ski/snowboard instructor so I would be there every day to get some free riding in. Last few years I haven't really had the chance to go snowboarding anymore cause I can't drive myself there anymore with no license :mad:

I am freestyle skiier. Love poweder. Will be going to Chamonix, France this winter and Meribel in spring. Chamonix is huge, it's in foot of Mont Blanc and you can get to Augille du midi pike with ski lift. It's 12,600 feet high...
