I'm finally in a place where I can attempt to grow so I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I'm waiting on beans so I have all the time in the world to geek out on growing until they arrive.

Geeking out while you wait is a great idea man, welcome to the boards. Most noobs just start with questions w/o trying to read anything on their own, which is what makes the difference between a grow and a good grow, you sound like you're on the right track man. Do your homework first, and you'll be better prepared to handle problems that pop up along the way. I found the Drug-Forums FAQ a few days ago and inhaled it...and it expanded. Lots of great stuff in there; I'm glad I don't have to know it all for my first grow. :)
I've read two online grow guides from end to end. I think I have a good grasp of the basics and that's what I'm going to stick with on my first grow, I think. The bascis. I've read about a variety of techniques; SOG, ScrOG, hydro, aero, and have at least a rudimentary understanding of them. I'm not entirely clear which will be best suited for me once I figure out the basic growing stuff but I have a lot of time to worry about that stuff and there's a lot of places to post questions about specifics.
