Melatonin Trials...anyone try this

Recently I became interested in Melatonin, it is a chemical which is made naturally in our own bodies and is believed to play a part in the regulation of our sleep cycle.

Erowid.com lists it as a Smart Drug, it is available as a dietary supplement in the USA and other countries as well. After reading a lot about Melatonin I determined I had to try it for myself especially after reading of one user's experience while mixing it with Cannabis.

I went to HEB (the local grocery store) and went to the dietary supplement aisle. I found the melatonin (3mg tablets) which costs $7.25 and I also got some B-6 capsules (100 mg) and Valerian root capsules (400mg Valerian root, 110 mg 8% valerianic acid Valerian extract) Many contributors to the Erowid Experience vault suggested combining all 3 for the most vivid dreams.

The first night I tried it I smoked one bowl of dank and then took 6 Valerian caps and 3 b-6 caps. I then relaxed a bit and got ready for sleep. I then took 3 melatonin tabs. Very soon after taking the pills I began to feel very tired, I laid down and turned on some music to fall asleep to. I remember I stayed up for at least an hour before falling asleep, I can't remember much else though. I woke up about 8 hours later feeling a bit drowsy but very content.

I tried similar combinations a few other nights but still did not receive the experience I had expected. This past Saturday I was cleaning out my pipe and produced a good amount of resin. I took 7 Valerian caps and 5 b-6 caps. I loaded a bowl of resin and for good measure...I opened a Valerian capsule and poured a bit on top of the resin. I smoked the bowl, which was very harsh. I don't know if the Valerian caused this or if it was due to the resin. I then took 4 melatonin tabs, got in bed, and turned on the TV.

Almost immediately after laying down I felt as though I was paralyzed with euphoria. I have not been high like this in ages...it reminded me of the time I consider to be my highest peak of highs. I then wondered how well I could drive in this condition or how I would explain this condition if discovered. I ended up hooking up my xbox and playing Project Gotham Racing 2 for about 2 minutes before I felt like I could stay awake no longer...it was about 10:45. I turned off the xbox and fell asleep shortly there after. Sadly, the next morning I could not remember anything about any of my dreams or whether or not they were vivid. I did however have a very sore throat which lasted about 2 days and required many cough drops. I am not exactly sure what caused the sore throat...it may have been the smoking of the Valerian.

To date I have not had an experience like those which have been reported on erowid. I am curious if anyone else has tried these supplements and if they have had any success.

i used melatonin supplements, but that was for when i was outta weed, i was seeing if keeping my melatonin levels up while i didn't have bud (because i can't sleep unless i have weed or a very heavily sedating tranquilizer) if i would be able to sleep like i was when i did have bud. in the end, it worked, but not alot, still not enough for me to sleep normal (i would wake up like every 20-30 minutes, i would be able to sleep more easily then without it, but it still wasn't the sleep i was looking for)

somehow i doubt that's what you were looking for it, but it's the only time i've used any one of the three.

Well among other things I would have liked to have found a substitute for Ganja...its definitely not one. It's difficult for me to imagine sleeping well without being high or drunk/sedated off my ass.

After realizing it wasn't a substitute, I hoped it might compliment cannabis...I am still not sure about that.

I take melatonin most nights. I think you took too much of the melatonin man..I need like 1mg, and it just sends me off to sleep...If I take too much then I don't seem to sleep as well, and it takes longer to sleep. I do have some pretty wild dreams with it. Last night I almost had a lucid dream, and I told some people in my dream I thought it was one...and they told me no, it was real life. O_O Weird, eh?

It definitely works to get you to sleep if you don't have bud Kiefboy..just try one 3g pill, or even split it in half, and let it dissolve all the way under your tongue. By the time it's gone, you should be asleep, unless you jumped into bed very awake, or right after playing some videogames or something. (they keep your brain going quite a bit).

correct me if i am wrong, but i thought melatonin wassomething you needed to take daily in order to see any effects, which would only be noticable after several weeks...

^^ its produced naturally by your pineal gland...everyone should already have a bit...I don't see why you would need to supplement it regurally to see an effect...but I don't know.

this summer i went on a very long plane ride to new zealand so i asked my friend who is very knowledgable on drugs, what legal drugs i could take to sleep through the whole plane ride. he said most ppl just take benadryl,dramamine,tylenol pm...but he also said i could use melatonin, i didnt kno wat it was so he explained it like this...melatonin is the chemical your brain makes to tell you to goto sleep, if you give urself melatonin it should tell your body to go2 sleep...he said it is usually used wen some1 is switching time zones and needs to adjust quickly

word, my father is completly blind, since age 10, he is the only person i have known to use it, he has to supliment his body's production because he doesn't see the sun, so he doesn't produce enough of it.
