The most powerfull force of morality and restraint is found in the conditioning that we're all indoctrinated with, to conform to our culture's social standards and codes for accetpable behavior. It's genetically incoded in us to have a psychological drive to be accepted into ones society, and after a while it goes further than that as we develop a sense of empathy and understanding that people's perceptions exist outside our own. Even the 10 commandments are still handed down by our culture's elders, and those people are the real driving force.
