Thinking of giving it a shot

I want to use my shed next spring and have a question about it. First off, I store my lawn mower, snow blower, all yard tools and yard chemicals in there. When you enter you can smell gas and inceticides(spelling?). Would those smells in any way effect the plants? And my neighbors house is about 30-40 feet away from it. I assume if the wind blows right they might get a wiff of it. But what about with no wind? I plan to use just plan old bag seed for my first time around with it untill I get some experiance under my belt. Thanks

Your plants shouldn't be effected but they well absorb that chemical smell and the finished product well smell and taste like it.

i would suggest that you make an air tight cupbaord and store the chemicles in there too one side of the shed

I really wouldn't worry about smell. I,ve had outdoor grows and couldn't even smell them, so i'm sure my neighbors didn't either. Are you dead set on the shed though, i have a big garage and trying to run a heater in the cab i built in the winter just seemed like wasted energy, so i finally moved them back in the house where temps were more stable. 1500w heater could have powered some nice lights.

well, the No.1 rule for a good grow room is that its gotta be cleaned properly, like, disinfected, scrubbed, hoovered, disinfected again, scrubbed again and washed.... that way your plant wont get any diseases... so its probably best to either empty your shed completely, or scrap the whole shed idea...

as for nosy neighbours smelling it, buy/make a carbon filter, and make the shed airtight..

Thanks for the input guys. Im not dead set on using my shed. Just was thinking it could be a good idea since its off my house and has electrical already in it.

The shed idea is not really a good one for security reasons. If just one of the neighbourhood kids find out about it you will have all sorts of problems and worries. The least of which are the cops showing up at your house because a neighbour reported a prowler in your backyard. They will try to rip off your grow.

I don't know your situation as far as teens go, like do you have any, are there any living in your area? but if you can't make it totally secure then I would forget about the shed and just grow in your house.
