New al Qaeda tape: Won't stop until we blow up White House

CAIRO, Egypt â?? Al-Qaeda in Iraq claimed in a new audio tape Friday to be winning the war faster than expected in Iraq, saying it had mobilized 12,000 fighters.
The group also said it welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, and it added that its fighters would not rest until they had blown up the White House.

Abu Ayyub al-Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also urged the U.S. to stay in Iraq so his group would have more opportunities to kill American troops.

â??The al-Qaeda army has 12,000 fighters in Iraq, and they have vowed to die for Godâ??s sake,â?� a man introduced as al-Muhajir said in an audio tape made available on militant Web sites.

â??We will not rest from our Jihad until we are under the olive trees of Rumieh and we have blown up the filthiest house â?? which is called the White House,â?� al-Muhajir said.

Al-Muhajir became the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. airstrike in June.

The tape could not be independently verified.

The speaker praised the outcome of Tuesdayâ??s elections in which Democrats swept to power in the House and the Senate, in large part due to U.S. voter dissatisfaction over the handling of the war in Iraq.

â??The American people have put their feet on the right path by ... realizing their presidentâ??s betrayal in supporting Israel,â?� the terror leader said. â??So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections.â?�

Describing President Bush as â??the most stupid presidentâ?� in U.S. history, al-Masri reached out to the Muslim world and said his group was winning the war in Iraq faster than expected due to U.S. policies.

He urged Bush not to withdraw U.S. forces so al-Qaeda could have more opportunities to fight U.S. soldiers. â??We havenâ??t had enough of your blood yet,â?� he told the U.S.
The speaker also referred to Rumsfeldâ??s resignation and called on â??the lame duck (Bush) not to hurry up in escaping the same way the defense minister did.â?� â??They are getting ready to leave, because they are no longer capable of staying,â?� the al-Qaeda leader said, referring to U.S. forces.

â??Remain steadfast in the battlefield, you coward,â?� he said, addressing Bush.

Iran, Syria Relieved That Democrats Won

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - Iran and Syria say that a Democrat-controlled Congress and the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld could relieve the pressure on them, officials from those countries said.

Both Iran and Syria have been under pressure from the U.S. -- Iran, for its refusal to abandon its nuclear program; and Syria for its alleged involvement in the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

The U.S. also has criticized Damascus for hosting the headquarters of Palestinian terrorist organizations and for supporting the insurgency in Iraq.

Washington has accused both countries, which back the Hizballah terrorist organization in Lebanon, of trying to topple the government in Beirut.

Syrian officials said the U.S. midterm elections mark a "significant change," and they view it as an American vote "against the neo-conservative mentality of the current administration."

"The outcome of the theses elections [is] a genuine punishment from the American people to [President Bush's] administration that staged a war on Iraq because of incorrect and inaccurate stimulations," Syrian Information Minister Dr Mohsen Bilal said in an interview with al-Jazeera, according to the official Syrian news agency SANA.

"Therefore the U.S. and British forces are in a mess there now," Bilal was quoted as saying on Thursday.

Bilal noted that incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opposes the war in Iraq. "This lady has made the word of the American people audible," he said. "And this is very comfortable."

Iranian analysts were quoted as saying that the Democrats will try to resolve the standoff with Iran through negotiations. They also welcomed the resignation of Rumsfeld.

Iranian state-run radio called Rumsfeld a "symbol of stupidity and unilateralism" and said his resignation represented "America's defeat in Iraq, the end of the era of neo-conservatives and the failure of America's war policy -- of which Rumsfeld was the architect."

Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani also expressed optimism that the defeat of the Republicans "might soften the U.S. war-mongering policy in the region."

Larijani, who is close to Supreme Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said "It is possible that the United States will behave in a wiser manner and will not pit itself against Iran."

In Israel, experts have said the only way to avoid a military confrontation with Iran is for the U.S. and its allies to be willing to use force -- and to make that clear to Tehran.

Israel's newly appointed Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh said that Israel must prevent Tehran from succeeding in its nuclear pursuits "at all costs."

Sneh said he was not advocating "Israeli preemptive military action," which he considers a "last resort."

"But even the last resort is sometimes the only resort," Sneh told the Jerusalem Post in comments published on Friday.

Dutch to ban Muslim veils

THE Dutch government has announced that it would seek a way of banning the wearing of burqas and other Muslim face veils in public places, possibly becoming the first European country to impose such a ruling.

The announcement comes at a time when the debate on such veils and whether they prevent Muslims from integrating has gathered momentum across Europe and drawn comments from leaders such as Britain's Tony Blair and Italy's Romano Prodi.

Last December Dutch lawmakers voted in favour of a proposal by far-right politician Geert Wilders to outlaw face-coverings, partly on security grounds, and asked Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk to examine the feasibility of such a ban.

Ms Verdonk said the fact veils were worn for religious reasons could bring new legislation into conflict with Dutch religious freedom laws, but signalled the government would try to find a way around this.

"The cabinet finds the wearing of a burqa undesirable ... but cannot at present enforce a total ban," she said after a cabinet meeting.

Existing legislation already limits the wearing of burqas and other total coverings in public transport or schools, Ms Verdonk said, but the cabinet would discuss imposing as wide a ban as possible next week.

"The government will search for the possibility to provide a ban," her spokeswoman told Reuters.

The Muslim community estimates that only about 50 women in the Netherlands wear the head-to-toe burqa or the niqab, a face veil that conceals everything but the eyes.

The Dutch may have been among the first to legalise cannabis, prostitution and euthanasia â?? earning them a reputation for tolerance â?? but in recent years they have pushed through some of Europe's toughest entry and integration laws.

Social and religious tensions have escalated in the last few years, exacerbated by the murder of film director Theo van Gogh by a Dutch-Moroccan militant in 2004.

Dutch Muslim groups have complained a burqa ban would only make the country's one million Muslims feel more victimised and alienated, regardless of whether they approve of burqas or not.

"What the government is doing now is totally disproportionate to the number of women who actually wear the burqa," said Ayhan Tonca, chairman of an umbrella group of Dutch Muslim organisations.

"The legislation we already have to protect people for security reasons is adequate," he added.

Hope, a Dutch-born Muslim, said she wore a niqab because she wanted to. "Nobody has the right to forbid it. If someone decides I cannot wear it then I will feel suppressed," she said.

The Netherlands would be the first European state to impose a countrywide ban on Islamic face coverings, though other countries have already outlawed them in specific places.

In 2004, France banned overt religious symbols such as Muslim headscarves, large Christian crosses and Jewish skullcaps from schools, arguing they were contrary to its separation of church and state.




Islam needs a refomation so the women dont have to wear those, and relaize they are equal to men, and it is OK to show your face.
