If you were to keep your grow room about 3 or 4 foot from the outside walls and roof would it still give off heat that the choppers can pick up on?
The place I think i could grow in is in the loft but the roof is sloping in there is about 6 foot at the highest point to about 3 foot at the lowest there is a 3x3 space easily with about 6 foot roof height. If I kept the plants down to 3 foot then i would the heat would be not be noticeable.
They could notice the heat if they wanted to. A few things to think about though, in most, if not all states it is no longer legal to do random thermo searches, also if they did, technically they can tell by the heat that is being exhausted from the grow room weather the activity is normal.
Also, the tractability of the thermo use by LIO has to be considered. If you live in semi industrial, or business districts then LIO would pick up thermo detection all over the place, street lamps, bakeries, pizza shops and so on, and they are not about to examine all of those possibilities to sort them out and try to pen point some poor jo that has a 1K or even 2K grow IMO.

If you're in the U.S., they can't thermally image your home without a warrant, because thermally imaging your home IN AND OF ITSELF constitutes a search. Thermally imaging your home without a warrant is a violation of your 4th amendment rights. The Supreme Court has already ruled on this, and it's the law of the land, in all states. And, if they have a warrant, they won't need to thermally image your home at all: easier and cheaper to just send two or three squad cars and tear your home apart. The key is avoiding any reason they can use to get a warrant (smell, paraphernalia in sight, leaves in your trash, whatever).

Oops! Then he's screwed. I think the U.S. may be the only country that treats thermal imaging as a search (or any means of peering into a home using equipment not available to the general public). Which is ironic, considering how draconian the punishment can be for possession or growing.
But I don't necessarily believe everything those little flag icons indicate. I almost put Kazakhstan or something for mine, because I'm a paranoid sumbitch sometimes.
Hot Air Rises. All you'd need to do is make sure your lights are producing hardly any heat... A few fans should do it.
Sorry guys. I have just started looking about growing in the last few months. I want to get everything right before hand.
The thing is I think I am worrying about something of nothing because I am not going for a big grow in the slightest. 1x 400w or 600w light and only a few plants so I am guessing that 1 of those lights does not give off the amount of heat I think it will.
if im correct, they dont search for heat in your house, because a heater will give off more heat than your plants ever will. i know they do infra-red waves to see what heat waves plants give off but that is always done outdoors since Marijuana plants give off more heat then most plants.
