Is it just a fact of life that there will be pest problems with ones grow (indoors)? What is the cause? In a cab environment what can one do to prevent infestation without the use of sprays and/or chemicals? Is it a matter of filtering the intake?

Deftdrummer, yes there certainly is a plethora of information on fighting various pests once they are there. The information I found revolves mostly around controlling enviornment ie. accurate temp/humidity control, keeping a clean work space. Personally I'm not a huge proponent of the doing something (like spraying) just in case. What is the ideal clean enviornment one could lay their trust in opposed to blindly hosing down their plants?
spray area with safer's insecticidal soap before growing. if pest occur, spray plants with safer's insecticidal soap. if you find spider mites a week b4 harvest...
use SAFER'S INSECTICIDAL SOAP! the ultimate in pot pest control. wont hurt plant, can even use on the day of harvest!
love brooke
hanging pest strips, ladybugs, neem oil, pyrythium oil the list goes on...
It's a question of WHEN.
Neem oil is a good prevention.
Yellow sticky traps will both act as a monitor and trap bugs.
The bugs come from all sorts of places... soil, your clothing, they fly or crawl there, pets bring them in the house. Just prevent infestation and a few odd bugs won't do much harm.
put sand on top of your soil
I am just using neem oil now, and I am going to continue to use it as a preventative. I also believe it is a question of WHEN, not IF, because my plants just had a mad pest-infestation, now mostly under control *phew*. Anyways, I use neem for prevention and soap if I spot any bugs. The only thing about neem is it smells soooooooooooooooo bad- but maybe thats just the brand (Safer's) I got? Does yours smell bad Stinky?Quote:
