Green Light

For working during dark periods I know to use a green light, my question is does it have to be a special green light? I have a ceramic coated green "party light" will that work fine?

I think your playing with fire but if for some reason you absolutely have to go in there during the dark a green led is your safest bet. Dont be surprised if your plants react. When its dark stay away unless its an emergency.

the Green portion of the light spectrum is actually not seen by plants. This is actually what makes it green. Those bulbs.. aren't in the green spectrum, they're simply incandescent lights covered with a green paint for a green "hue".

There's a reason they call it the "dark" period.

Avoid any light what so ever during it.

So what should be used green LEDS?

Green l.e.d's could work but why bother?

plants shouldn't react unless you put lights on for more than a few minutes. i sometimes have to tend my setup during the dark period, no probs. BUT, i never go more than 4 minutes...

and TOTAL darkness is not totally necessary, two of my previous outdoor gro's were done 50 feet from an hps night light (600w) and essentially had 24/7 in flower. it's not so much the light, as it is how much light...

ps, total darkness WILL help with yeild, just to clear, no arg's please...

Sometimes you have to go in the grow room when its dark, that's why I bother otherwise I wouldn't ask. I wanted to be sure before I caused negative effects on my plants. Some people that use CO2 have to go in when dark since the CO2 levels aren't great for you while the lights on and you dont want the levels to drop during the light period.

The main reason I want this is I keep tools ect...in the same room and sometimes I need to get one which in difficult when its pitch black. The lights are on when im working most of the time.
