First Grow

I've been smoking pot for 40 years, and have finally got to the point where I decided it was time to grow my own. We're six weeks away from harvest with three females (one hermie). It's bagseed. I've got some Lowryder and Skunk seeds for subsequent grows. The hermie freaked me out until I searched the threads for answers. Took some tweezers and did some castration. I'll be watching it closely until chop time.

I'm not going to bother asking novice questions. I've been checking this site since before I began the grow and refer to it wherever I have a problem and have found it immensely helpful. Thanks to all the experienced gurus here such as Stinkyattic, Garden Knowm, Harddon, BobBong, Zandor, and all the others. This is a terrific site.

My question is for anyone who's had experience with Dutch Master Reverse and Feminizer. Do these products work? And has anyone had a successful grow with LED lights? I've searched the threads but the jury seems to be out on this one. Maybe the technology is too new. Seems like it would be a viable solution to many of the grow problems most closet growers come across.

Also, can anyone suggest strains that smell less like weed. I'm okay with the smell but my roomie would rather have something less obvious. She's a bit more paranoid than I am. Keep in mind that we've been smoking street grass and what passes as "quality" weed with exotic names but still smokes like harsh commercial product, despite the better high. I guess all the good stuff goes to people like Brad Pitt who have the hook-up with reputable growers and can afford the high prices.

Right now I'm using a single 150 watt HPS with two 100 watt equivalent clfs for additional lighting. We have a medium sized oscillating fan and air purifier with ionizer. I even bought some odor lights. I'm not sure they're working as well as they claim. The set up is in our closet. Heat isn't a problem now because of the cool weather and because we leave the door open for ventilation during the 12 hour day cycle.

If anyone reading this lives in Nevada, don't forget to vote. If that bill passes, it'll yet one more reason to go to Vagas. :smokin:

I second that about vegas, I'm buying a ticket or jumping in the car the second that bill passes, if it does of course. LED lights are good for supplemental lighting, and the reason they are good is that they use almost no electricity and won't harm your plant if it grows into it, but they shouldn't be used for primary lighting. LEDs also give off a lot less visible light (especially the solaroasis grow bars), so if they are used soley, your stealth factor increases dramatically. The odor bulbs do have a break-in period, so their effectiveness increases after a few days or something, and they need to have air circulating over them. I've heard that C99 and northern lights have low odor. You may also want to try some strains that are named after fruits, they may have a less obvious marijuana odor, but still have a distinct odor.
