Power turned off...HELP!
So my damn power got shut off this morning, forgot to pay the damn bill. I got that taken care of, but they say power won't be turned back on till later today. Am I going to run into serious trouble?
I've been running them on a 24/0 schedule for the week they've been alive (3 days in the buckets so far), is this going to cause some serious light stress? Since the lights are going to be off for about 6-7 hours, should I switch them over to 18/6? Or just leave on 24/0 for veg (what I want to do) when the power is turned on? Also, I've heard that plants can live in the unoxygenated water (if airpump fails or power shut off) for about 24 hours, but I was wondering if the same held true for small plants (mine are ranging from 2-3" tall). Thanks and keep your fingers crossed for a quick return of power!

Power turned off...HELP!
Just put some sort of light on them (even a flashlight or something) until your power goes back on. Don't change anything--any light at all will keep them on their schedule. For the air pump, I don't know about the small ones but my large ones have definitely gone 24 hrs (under strong lighting) without any ill effects. You can buy air pumps that work on batteries; they go on when your regular power goes off but I don't know if you can get one before the power comes back. Great for the future tho....

Power turned off...HELP!
No flashlights, or the ones we do have are probably still packed away (just moved a couple months ago). I'm hoping that it gets turned back on before the plants have seen more than 6 hours of darkness...Would it be ok to go back to 24/0 then? I'm trying as hard as possible not to stress them on the simple things as a beginner, since I'm sure to stress them in some of the more advanced areas.

Power turned off...HELP!
hello, not that i am a pro on this, TOTAL NEWBIE, but after reading what you wrote was wondering if i should invest in a a backup power like i have for my computer as logically this would give me time to come up with alternate power for my system. Please let me know if this is even on the right track.
Thank you,

Power turned off...HELP!
as young as your plants are you shouldnt see any stress at all from the light being off, as for your schedule its good to do 24/0 the first week but you should definatley switch to 18/6 as 24hrs of light can be very stressfull as well as plants are very active at night

Power turned off...HELP!
Power came back on after 6.5 hours, so I think I'm ok still. I'll probably keep on the 24/0 for veg, just because it happens to suit my purposes at the time - mainly ventilation and light leakage problems I'd run into with an 18/6 schedule. Also, there's a pretty respected guy over at gardenscure that is currently experimenting with 24/0 for veg and having great results. Thanks for everyone's help though!
