Could someone please help me?
I'm gonna flower these soon under a 400w HPS so I can time a harvest near the holidays. Question is, are the plants pushing their limits in these? Should I pot them up before sexing, after sexing or not at all so as to eliminate extra cost, space, and shock to the plants.
Last time I went straight from plastic cups to big containers (3 gallon, I think), but thinking back, I don't recall the roots using all that space.
Please forgive the pics...I'm no Ansel Adams...I have a crappy still camera.
Thanks!

a little larger container sure won't hurt anything except your allowable space.

i'm going to say, wait for a few more opinions but i dont think your plants need to be repotted. I had a 12 inch plant in a 6 inch pot and it wasn't root bound when i transplanted it.
but wait for advice from the pro's b4 you do anything me thinks

Hey man, if you don't want to transplant, you can just put dirt in the bottom of another pot the same size and set that pot inside it. The roots will grow down through the holes into the second pot if they need the extra space. Kinda a cool little trick. I transplanted mine into 5 gallon pots and they're growing like an inch or two a day now that they're under the HPS. I think they like they're new containers/light. Check the newest pics i posted :) (first link in sig)

1 gallon of pot space will make a 12" plant happy. 2 gallons for a 2 footer, and so on.
You're fine there.

trivia point: Ansel Adams had a crappy still camera, too ... his genius was in the darkroom, where he manipulated his photos for the desired 'look' ... that's why visitors to Yosemite can't figure out why their photos don't look like his did ... :D

Thanks guys for the insight. I didn't know about stacking pots to make roots keep growing. Sounds interesting..
Image Reaper (hey, weren't you roadcam for a while?), I didn't know about the Ansel Adams' technique...I was just being a smart ass, and look what I get...knowlegde!
Tomorrow, I'm taking a leap of faith to sex them in the pots they're in. That way I won't have to worry about the extra space and work for what will probably be 2 males. Then, I'll pot the girls up. BUT PLEASE STOP ME IF YOU THINK IT WILL SHOCK THE GIRLS INTO A WEAK HARVEST.
Thanks!
