I SECOND THE LAST POST

I recently had to take a pre-employment drug test... I am a pretty avid marijuana smoker... so I was freaking out because I only had 10 days to clear my system. Low and behold... I took 2 home tests (1 3 days after my last smoke sesh and another a week later) and passed both...

I gathered a ton of info about drug testing including a family friend who happens to be one of the top oncologists in the country (formerly worked in a drug testing lab) and he laughed when I said I was freaking out... 48 hours for someone who is of normal weight and has a normal metabolism. All "flushes" and other such 50-60 dollar drug cleansing kits are only trying to make money off of those desperate enough to spend it to try and pass.

Drink water...cranberry juice...eat healthy..whatever. I passed my test with flying colors. It's very rare that if you refrain from doing drugs for 48 hours you'll fail a simple urine test.

No offense, but that's crazy. I've failed a urine test 30 days after smoking. I'm only 5ft 11in and weigh 165. My BMI is extremely low, but I had to quit for almost 60 days to clear it out of my system.

The real truth is you can't tell how someone's body reacts to it. I'm in very good shape, but for some reason THC doesn't flush very quickly from me.

That's reassuring to hear. I'm the kind of money who doesn't spend the money until it's in the bank, but still, your post did ease a bit of my tension.

I don't understand why people waste money to test themselves. The only test that matters is the one your employer will give you. Is it worth the extra $$$ just to know what the results might be when it's already too late to do anything about it?

The reason to waste money to test yourself is somewhat simple. If I can test negative right before I leave, then I'm not going to try to substitute. Those test strips are really cheap (if you get them online), so sometimes I'll do it multiple times to be sure. For a high paying job, the last thing I need is to get a substitution on, and then find out that I'm going to be monitored.

The part about the flushes I agree with. The part about 48 hours might have worked for you but it will not work for everyone. I have passed 5 days after smoking and I have failed 39 days after smoking. I know plenty of people who tested 50-60 days after smoking. None of us are fat or inactive. The elimination half-life of THC varies greatly from person to person and even can vary in the individual due to other factors. The elimination half life of THC can range from .8 days to 10 days.

Yes some people will pass with just days clean but not all. Just because you passed in 48 hours doesn't mean the guy next to you will pass in 48 hours or won't and that is a fact.
