grow plan...few questions too

Ok i am getting ready to start my own indoor set up. This is my first time growing and i just wanted to know what you guys think of my plan. I will have this set up in my back room. I am keeping it real small 4-5 plants (white widow). I am going to use soil and put a little bat shit in it (i heard it is great for the plants). And that is my first question can some one tell me of a good soil? Where i live it is hard to find stuff like this so i will be buying my stuff on line. I have planed on using Compact Fluorescent System w/95W Daylight Bulb for vegetation. What should I switch to for flowering? The only problem i have is finding a good Nutrient. Does anybody know of a good brand? Is their any other thing i should know? I will post PICS of my room and i will start a new post when i start planting them.

Look at my grow in my signature. I started with cfls in dirt too. Use fox farms nutrients, even posted the schedule. Don't put that bat shit in your soil for the seeds, it will burn your seedlings. Neutral potting soil and water only for 2 weeks. Then you can transplant them to soil with that bat shit and start feeding. We use Fox Farms Ocean Forrest soil mixed 4:1 with perlite (for extra drainage) and some dolemite lime for pH buffering. You'll definitely need more than that one bulb for your plants. Get about 1 42 watt CFL (150 or 200 watt equivalent) per plant for happy plants. And keep your lights close 1-3" away from the leaves, to prevent stretching.

For flowering you should get one of those 150 watt HPS security lights from like home depot and re-wire it for a remote ballst. Someone posted a step by step guide i'll find it and link you. 150 watts is plenty for 4 small plants

Ok Thanks for the info. I found some CFLs on ebay (link at bottom) i plan on getting about 4 of them, i am pretty sure that they are the right kind. I just orderd the soil and that stuff. All i have left to get is the plant pots (small & large for latter) and plant food. What are some good brands to feed them? So thats about it right. Lights, soil (bat,worm castings, and all that shit), pots, vents & fans, and food, am i forgeting anything. I will post PICS of my set up in a week or two when i get everything set up. Oh yeah and is white widow a good indoor strain bc i was thinkin of getting some differnt seeds too and planting two differnt strains. Whats another good strain?

I am going to use fox farms nuts. Does anybody here us them and if so are they good? I am ordering some more seeds soon so i can get some differnt plants going. I have white widow now and i plan on getting some Blueberry and maybe some AK47. What is your guys favorite strain? I think white widow, Blueberry, and AK47 growin at the same time sounds pretty sick!

I use fox farms nutrients. Check my current log, I posted a pic of the nutrient schedule. As far as CFLs go, don't waste time on ebay. Just go to wal-mart and clean out the shelf. Make sure you look at true wattage. They will usually be marked as their incandescent bulb equivalent like 200 watt (42 actual watts). Those are the ones you want. 42 watts, 2700 lumens. You ideally want the cool white ones, but we used the warm white and our plants didn't seem to mind. As far as soil, if you plan on using a nutrient system you can scrap the bat guano. At least for the seedlings for sure. Bat guano will burn them if they're not 2 weeks old. Just get some perlite (only like 2 or 4 bucks at lowes or home depot), some dolemite lime (also 2 bucks at home depot or lowes), and worm casings. We used 4 parts soil to 1 part perlite, for added drainage and helps keep the soil from compacting. Dolemite lime we added like 1 cup per cubic yard of soil, and we didn't use worm castings this time around. Fox Farms ocean forrest soil rules. If you plan on using fox farms, get the grow big and big bloom for now. You'll need tiger bloom and and optionally some other stuff like bud boosters once you start flowering. Big bloom is used for both vegging and flowering.

Pick up some superthrive, just a small bottle will do. Add one to two drops per gallon of water with waterings, has some vitamins and hormones that help plants out.

Anathema thanks for all the help. I have my whole set up planed out now. You seem pretty smart about this whole growin thing so what is your favorite strain? If i am going to grow and risk getting locked up i kinda want to grow the best shit! I will keep you posted on my set up. I plan on to start growing in like 2 weeks.
