I had the talk with my uncle and dad of moving out of england the other day. Canada always seems to pop up due to quality of life, and the size of housing you can get, with nice amounts of land.
How would you rate your country? what are the nice areas to live? ideally not too rural and not too urban.
And.. how are foreigners looked upon?

I come from the land of Holland but I have lived here for 9yrs now and I love it.
I would are this country 8/10. We have problems just like any other country does. If a weak military doesn't bother you, like it does some other people, then nothing else is really worth complaining about.
Land is cheaper here than in England. I hear homes and land are crazy expensive to own in England.
As for areas, it all depends on what you're after and costs are. I just moved to Vancouver BC about 3 weeks ago and it is a beautiful province. It is loaded with mountains and water, although it is one of the more expensive places to live, but it's also the province where some of the worlds best cannabis come from.
Alberta is probably the cheapest place to live in all of Canada. There isn't much there, unles syou like the praries, and cows. The oilfield is here though and has been called the Texas of Canada, so if you want to get into the oilfield, there is GOOOOOD money in it, then again, it is the oilfield. If money is your thing though, go for it!
The East coast is where you want to go if you want to live by the sea. They are closely related to the Scottish in Newfoundland, and accents are very similair. That is fishing land out there.
So really, you have choices. Live by the water or not. By the water look into the BC coast, or the East coast. Money is in Alberta with oil and beef, logging in BC, fishing on the East coast, and all the other stuff inbetween is no different than most places. It has some water in there, some land, a mix of both.
Foreigners are not looked down on there. You have the people everywhere who look down on immigrants, but it's not like people are going to hate you for being English. If anything you'd fit right in. I haven't met a lot of English folks here, so I'm sure the people will warm right up to you.
west = expensive as hell
maritimes = boring as hell (same goes for manitoba and the praries)
Ontario is more or less where you would go if you were family inclined..or have a family.
West is alright if you've got money..
Quebec well...ya...they'd be happier their own country so you can imagine how an englishman would do in Quebec.
Ottawa is tech and government work.
Montreal is....interesting...
Toronto is good for education (Ryerson,UofT,GeorgeBrown,etc.)
They're also building new studio's in Toronto, so if you're film/tv. inclined.. T.o is good.
Niagara falls is dead in the winter and busy as fuck beans during the summer.
much more a tourist attraction than anything.
North Ontario is good if you like the rural life...but with the increasing price of gas, gas emissions and housing marketing going to crap...again, you'd need a good deal of money to do well in Rural ontario.
Question to consider..what kind of life are you looking for?

Well im young and would be looking for work by the time i would move, if i did.
I would have a degree by the time i moved there, which would probably help in jobhunting.
It would be with my family, my mum and dad would appreciate getting more for thier money house and land wise. I appreciate nature and am into photography as is my dad so would be nice to live somewhere scenic.
Hi there, im from canada. Just like the others have already said, depends what kind of life you're looking for. I move between BC and the yukon every few years. Vancouver/Victoria is a great place to live if you have the money, lots of things to do.Nice all year round, gets pretty wet though. Yukon is also great if you like outdoors stuff. Not too urban, not too rural. Lots of city stuff to do while in the city. And tons of fun outdoor stuff to do just outside the city. Has kind of wacky weather though, Goes from a wet cold winter that goes down to -20, to a really dry hot summer, up to 30+. That's all i can comment on from experience, bob has the rest down pretty well.
Ontario would be my suggestion but then...I'm from Ontario, so I think I'm a bit bias.Quote:
