Stop destroying English

Why is it cool to spell things wrong on purpose? I'm bad at spelling, but I don't spell things wrong on purpose because "itz c00l." What the fuck is up with this? I thought it was just a phase at first and only an American thing. But nope I see it from posters who claim they are from canada and Europe as well. The funny thing is, no one realizes how much they are fucking themselves over in the future. Very few people can even write and speak their first language well. What the fuck... the said thing is most of the younger generation can't seem to switch it off anymore. When I was younger I used and still use the short hand lol, brb, ttyl, etc but I can write correctly if I have a damn paper due for class. Reading over some younger relatives papers, I constantly have to correct mistakes they shouldn't be making at their level. I mean come on. Granted I usually post before I read over what I write on chat boards, I'm not talking about simple word misplacement. I'm talkin bout spelin evrything wrong bcuz itz so fuckin sweet. All it does is make me and many others not read what you have to say.

I was talking to a graduate student at my university the other day and he was grading some English 101 papers. He showed me a few and I was shocked how bad many of them were. Some of them actually had slang and words spelled wrong in the same annoying way I see them here. With a "z" replacing an "s."

I'm convinced the internet and AIM are helping make America and other nations dumber than we already are.

Oh and bling bling and bootylicious are now in the dictionary. WTF? :(

i know what you mean, but its not really a big deal if you do it online or on a message board. I do it to shorten some words bc i get lazy typing... but that whole "z" thing (ex:bluntz) pisses me off a little lol but w/e im not gonna knock it.

lol you know you're going to be flamed for posting about correct english on a potheaded website right? actually there's already been a post like this and it got closed...

personally i think it's a waste of time, not only does it take 2x long to read, it takes 3x as long to type.

Things like that annoy me too, although i do tent to do it for certain words.

And your too damn right, kids talk like this all time, and CANT turn it off.

Even when im texting someone on my phone i write every word out in full.

I can understand it, but dont like it.

Spelling is the best, but L337 spelling rocks :p on occasion .. funny to see people get dissed in it lol :p

I do it texting because I have gigantic fingers and im not very dextrous (I lack dexterity). Aart fro that if im really tired and cant be arsed to type properly I wil, or if im stoned.

It was me pulling someone up, pissed me off something rotten, and got the thread closed.

Its next to no effort to have even the basic grammer skills, just so people can easily understand what you are trying to say. Unless it comes out in mumble jumble, like I just did, lol.

IF this thread is going to continue some people better chill out a bit.

I know where your comin' from but fact is that some are better at some things than others. As for myself, I'm more into math than english.....as I'm sure alot of my old teachers would confirm.
