Does smoking weed, oil with tobacco kill sperm count?
I'm not sure if I understand what you're asking, but if you're asking whether smoking weed lowers sperm count, then yes, in the studies that have been done it does indeed appear to lower sperm count. So does cigarette smoking. Both can have a negative affect on sperm motility, too, which means that the action of the sperm cells is slower than it should be or irregular in some way in comparison to that of non-weed and non-cigarette smokers.
Sperm count and motility are both very sensitive to external environmental factors. Everything from body temperature to alcohol to even a poor diet can affect the quality of sperm.
If you stop smoking for like a year or so (or maybe even sooner) do you think the sperm count will go back to normal? I dont plan on having kids but I would want as healthy as a child as I could get. I wouldnt want my child thinking some of their malfunctions were because of their parents habits (such as smoking and drinking) like I do.
Yeah, it'd go back to normal relatively quickly. Sperm quality and amount respond quickly to environmental changes. You'll father very healthy kids when the time comes, I'm sure. One way you can help guarantee this is by choosing a clean-living potential mother of your kids who'll stay away from potentially harmful substances before and during the pregnancy--and afterwards too, if she's going to breast feed. Might as well be safe since it's a relatively short amount of time in comparison to an entire lifetime.
yes, smoking weed does lower your sperm count.
they advise people who are having pregnancy problems to quit smoking weed for awhile
so that way they can produce more sperm cells.
Obviously it doesn't lower sperm count enough to stop Rastafarians from having children.
I smoked a shitload of weed for 20+ years. Then my wife and I decided it was time to have a baby. She stopped taking the pill, then I used condoms for 6 months (best to get the pill totally out of the system first). Then Bam! First time without a condom and she was pregnant. We know it was that time because I had been travelling on business right after that. So, unless it was the mailman's kid, it happened that one time. Seems that my sperm didn't have much of a problem :D
Anyhow, I had read that recent studies showed the damage to sperm from weed was negligable, if at all. No where's near what the govt would like us to believe. Tight underwear and hot tubs are most likley worse.
I figured any potential damage from weed was probably fairly low. It seems like more and more, the long-held "uh-ohs" about weed are being disproven. But if I were a potential daddy, I'd probably not want to take even a negligible risk. You're right on the tight underwear and hot tubs! We'd only been married a year and a half when I decided we should begin trying to get pregnant, which, now that I look back on it, was nuts. I should have waited till I was well into my 30s before either marriage or kids, but no. Anyway, I went off the Pill and gave that three months to get out of my system, and my husband decided for the benefit of his progeny, he'd switch from briefs to boxers. He had an 18-hour stretch away from his residency program that first weekend we were clear to start trying, and that was all it took. I'll never know if it was his underwear change or not. Probably it was the fact that I was just barely 24 and at peak breeding age. Anyway, that's how we got our son.Quote:

I never smoked cigarettes at all. Got plenty of those second-hand from growing up in a house with a mother who did.
