What do you think?
I found these strains and picked these three as my favorite starters.
Speed Queen - Mandala Seeds
Nothern Lights Pure Indica - Nirvana Seeds
Durban Poison - Nirvana Seeds
Quick overview of the grow. 18 gallon rubbermaid DWC. Two 3" net pots filled with hydroton. Two (up to 20 gallon) aquarium air pumps connected to two 12" airstones via 1/4" black tubing. Using a 2 - 4' flourescent tube. Using the tiny (can't remember the actual size) rock wool cubes for seedlings, and placing them into the 3" net pots.
Peace.

I've grown with flourescent tubes for many years, (in soil) with good luck, but you don't have nearly enough lumens with only two tubes ... go for six 40-watt tubes, minimum ... GE 'Cool White' for vegging, GE 'Kitchen and Bath' for flowering ... avaialable at any WalMart, etc ... :smokin:

Thanks for the reply, it seems people have not had any opinions toward my thread. lol. Anyway I was wondering since I only plan on doing 2 plants at a time, would I still need to do six 40-watt tubes?, or could I still use my original two-four tubes? Regarding the 3" net pots, will they be able to support a plant using the SCROG technique?
I also saw your post about the seed boutique thing, I plan on using them at some point, just because I can get some good strains for a really good price. Plan on using a money order instead of a checking/credit account.
Respect.

the number of plants don't affect the lamps output, "one plant per square foot" for conventional growing, that's all I can tell ya ... you need to use 4-6 tubes for any decent results at all ... I know, because I started with four tubes about 40 years ago, and worked my way up to twelve 40-watters (35,000 lumens), before finally going for the High-pressure sodium lamps (which I recommend) ... just no decent results until I got to 6 tubes ...
I won't comment on pot sizes, etc., because I know zero about hydroponics growing ... I'm just an old dirt farmer ... as to SCROG, some plants are much better with that, than others ... your Northern Lights idea was the only one I would recommend ... it is easy for a beginner, and supposedly SCROGS well, too ... I don't know much about the other two seedstrains, in regard to difficulty, or "SCROGability" .. :D a new word :D ... for a beginner, I would say to forget the SCROG idea for now, you will have enough to worry about ... plus, READ !! ... these grow forums have hundreds of answers for your questions ... take advantage of it, flip back through old pages, enjoy ... :smokin: :D

Alright, so I am going to have to throw down on either 6 40-watters plus fixtures. I am beginning to think it will be cheaper to just get a 400-watt HPS. I saw one on ebay for $95, do you think it is safe to order from there? I want to be as inconspicuous (check spelling. lol) as possible.
Thanks for all the help so far. I have been reading a lot of forums and soaked up so much from this. There are just the questions that I like to ask in regards to my situation.

WalMart is selling twin-tube flourescent fixtures for about $9 apiece ... the lamps themselves are less than $4 apiece ... so, for a 6-tube setup, you're looking at about $48 plus tax ... you won't buy a 400-watt HPS for anything near that ... mine cost over $300, and it was a bargain ... beware of lamp setups on eBay ... if it seems like a good price, read the fine print carefully ... most of those cheap ones are 'used' and 'refurbished', etc ... they're sometimes converted street light setups, with a gazillion hours on the ballast ... this is about all I have to add ... :smokin:

Oh.
Ok cool I guess I will be taking a trip to Walmart soon. I have one last question for you before we part ways. When it comes to setting up the fixtures, should they be hung from overhead, or is there another set-up you suggest.
Thanks for the help thus far.
Respect.

If your looking for a cheap 400w hps try bghydro there 400watters start at about 169.I have 2. The more lighting bigger the buds. If you dont want a 400 watt one try a 250 because with the small # of plants you have its cheaper and perfect for your grow. Try inside sun they always have special on lights.
