My thought on - Salvia Extracts
Why does salvia have to lit with a torch lighter? and have you ever done salvia non extracts, if so they are weak trips and not worthy of much.
However when you mess with the extracts, you get these full blown experiances, yes it makes sense that it would take a lot of salvia leaves to form the amount in those extracts but they are extracted with ethanol what if it is that, that is causing these affects.
You know that nasty smell and taste that everyone complains out, well that is ethanol you are tasting..
I don't know where im going with this, I just have this theory.. That we are using torch lighters cause we have to burn the ethanol hot enough to make any real affect, could it be that we are smoking ethanol. I can see ethanol having some fucked up affects but I don't know.
I could be completly wrong, and that ethanol extracts the salvia and we are inhaling purely the salvia but I do know. I know that ethanol extracts other herbs but you never tatse or smell it like I do when I smoke salvia.

Ethanol is not used very often for making extracts.
Acetone is the currently preferred solvent because it is currently the best!
But there should be no acetone as it is allowed to evaporated away leaving only the plant compounds and especially the Salvinorum-A. Sometimes other methods are even used to draw out the tanin and other plant compounds that make the smoke harsh.
So unless your buying a shady deal, you shouldn't be tasting any ethanol.
You don't have to use a torch lighter, but it's a good idea, because you have to get it really hot to vaporize Salvinorum-A into the smoke and get the psychoactive effects.

Shamans have been using Salvia for centuries for it's effects bro.
And I have used non-extracts. No trip, but mild sedative effects (probably psychological).

It's not the "ethanol" you're tasting... It's just the way the Salvia tastes. Different plants have different tastes, much like the taste difference between some strains of weed.
