Ph Question.....

Should I be trying to match my Ph in my Water to the Ph of my soil?

Example..

I had done a grow in ProMix BX Ph7 and My Tap water was Ph 7. the grow worked out decent but could it be better?

I used Botanicare Pure Gro Pro nutes for veg and pure Pro Bloom for Flower.

I used ProMix. I added just water untill the 4th week. then I satrted adding some nutes (1/4 strength watered down). at about Week 5 and 1/2 I tested the water runoff of My Soil. It was 5.5 seemed low. I thought you always wanted your soil to be around 6.5 to 7Ph

So I tested my water found it was 7Ph untill I added nutes this dropped it down to about 5.8 or lower.

So when I add my nutes to my Ph 7 Water it brings it down to 5.5 Should I use Ph Up to bring it back up to 7ph to match my soil? Will this in theroy help my plants. Or is it a small detail compared to the other major details you can watch when growing a graden?

Hope that was clear enough..

1.. Should your water Ph always Match whatever Ph your soil is?
2.. Can you mix your nutes with Water Ph Up/Down without harming the water thus affecting the plants?
3.. Will having matched soil/water Ph Levels in theroy and if mixed correctly benifit my plants and the way they up take nutrients?
4.. I guess this one too Are there any household proucts that can be used to Ph/Up/Down the water? Safely or should I just buy the common brand grow shop stuff?

I am trying a grow with Coco Coir this time. As its easier to get and the grow shops keep telling me to try it. I have added the Lime so My coco is sitting aorund 6.8Ph right now and I have yet to put a seed in it untill I figure this out.

Thought I would add that with Botanicare Pure Gro / Pro Bloom they recommend to add with every watering.
So I did small amounts with every watering. 1/4 Strength watered down to start and worked up to 1/2 strength. I never made it to full strength before flowering began plus the plant didn't seem like it could take it anyways. A few burnt tips etc.

cant get any better than 7 thats neutral this is best during veg and use 6.5 for flower :)

always PH your water no matter what nutes will bring the PH down and if you never correct it your plants will wilt and die off, never use household products any pet store carry's ph up and down in the aquarium section

I would go between 6.2 and 6.8 for soil all day. 7 works, but that is a general number of nutrality, but as you can see, in hydro, they are getting down to 5.2 with the PH.

basically its all wrong!
for flowering in soil or hydro the ideal ph is less in grow than flower!
a higher PH during the flowering period of UP TO 7. is good to allow better absorbtio0n of the nutes, in soil it is normally found the optimum for nute consumption in the grow stage is 6. to 6,5, however in flower period this should be at 6.5 to 7. the higher ph allows for the P K to be absorbed more effectivly, ideal ranges change in hydro, but the principles are the same,
however there are no reasons to drop as low as 5.2! the calcium is the only element that is drawn in a ph 5.5 or less!, there fore in hydro GROW we start the tanks at 5.5 allow to rise to 6 max , and then back down to 5.5 again, the reason being that the nitrogen needed for growing is available between 5.5 and 6.2, pottasium and K are found at the ranges of 5.7 to 6.5, and can be allowed to run up to 7 in soil. maintaining an extra high PH will effectivly block out nitrogen intake and only allow for the PK to be absorbed for flowering! keeping the feeds within these ranges will ensure good absorbtion of nutrients threw the roots

My rule is going to be,, match My water Ph with waterever my soil tells me it will be. I think this simple rule will help em move along as a grower.

I can't wait to try some hydro, Im gonan try some tomatoes first perhaps outside in the summertime. TO learn first then Try some Ganja..

Nitrogen is absorbed best in soil at a ph level of 6.0-8.0. ( wouldn’t recommend having a ph of over 7.0 in soil) best range to have nitrogen is a ph of
6-7. Anything out of that range will contribute to a nitrogen def.

Hydro and Soil less Mediums
Nitrogen gets locked out of Hydro, Soil less mediums at the levels of 4.5-5.0.
Nitrogen has the best absorption rate at a ph of 5.5 to 8.0
(Wouldn’t recommend having a ph over 6.5 in hydro and soil less mediums.) Best range to have Nitrogen is: 5.0-7.0. Anything out of that range will contribute
to a nitrogen def.

Soil

Phosphorus gets locked out of soil growing at ph levels of 4.0-5.5
Phosphorus is absorbed best in soil at a ph level of 6.0-7.5 (wouldn’t recommend having a ph of over 7.0 in soil) Anything out of the ranges listed will
contribute to a Phosphorus deficiency.
