The Song Of The Disillusioned

What was my mistake and where did I go wrong?
How did I lose the music and the lyrics of my song?

How can one man suffer and lose his will to live?
Why does it always feel that my life's stored in a sieve?

How have all my efforts at being friendly failed?
Why have all my hopes and dreams been violently de-railed?

Where have all my friends gone, those who said they care?
Why can I not see them, when I search for them out there?

Why does my sad heart beat in a slow and heavy way?
Why is it I always dread the birth of the next day?

Why has simply eating become a painful chore?
Is prolonging my existence a thing that I deplore?

Why do I find comfort in contemplating death?
Why do I long to go to sleep and take my final breath?

Why do I not tell the truth, when people ask me how I am?
Why do they not see the truth and penetrate my scam?

Why do the foundations not support my life construction?
How am I supposed to stop its inevitable destruction?

Why is my life picture made of tiny little bits?
Why are all the pieces broken â?? nothing ever fits!

Why have all my actions been so dreadfully misconstrued?
Did they think that I was evil, selfish, bad, or rude?

Why was I a conduit for their crafty machinations?
Was I just a target for their warped imaginations?

What happened to that prize of sheer and utter bliss?
Why did I watch it fall away into an endless black abyss?

What do I do now, in my sorry state of grief?
Who can restore the faith and rekindle my belief?

It is sad, feeling like this, but I guess that I am always gonna feel like this deep-down...
It's like, I am a good person (not a saint, by any means) and thought that good people get rewarded with good things - like, happiness...hence the rant.

great poem though Res. I'm listening to Ruby Tuesday by the Stones right now and getting pretty smashed (a few shots o vodka and some 40oz of steel reserve) and I feel for ya right now man. I'm feeling sorry for myself and my poor babies slowly dying too... boohoo-hoo :(
