starting seeds and cold weather
Should the seeds be warmed by external source? Like a heating pad or simular? I started seeds last night, but have noticed the paer towel is cold. I turned off the vent fans and I am using a CFL in hopes it would heat up a little. Also should the seeds be germinated in the dark? I am leaving the light on 24 hrs now.

Ok did some reading on the board, I should get the temp up to 75 degrees at least. Should they be germinated in the dark though?

seeds need darkness...best way to germinate is by using a regular glass cup fill it with water and stick it in a dark cupboard...i used a kitchen cupboard... check them in about 2 days and should only take 5 days or so...i usually use 3-5 seeds in a cup cause usually one or two open...if some of the seeds float its ok just push them down, if they continue to float its ok

if you are useing the paper towel method put 2 plates together the bottom one faceing up and the top faceing down and have your seeds in the middle.. that way you can leave them ontop of a microwave or something and it will keep them warm while keeping the light out
