:D ive grown b4 under my 400w hps which i can not use anymore so im going to do a cfl grow. i am waiting for my big bud seed to sprout (im doing 1 plant)
and i have 1 42w cfl hanging above it but not on yet. if i got 2 more 1 for 2 sides of the plant and 1 for above would that be enough to get good buds?

Depends on what you consider good buds? I think you will be able to get something to smoke out of it, but with that kind of light, I wouldn't count on a big stash. Maybe others who have grown with such little lighting can give you a better feel on what you can expect.
If you are going to go CFL, you are going to have to blast 'em and go at least 3 or 4 per plant. That will still not give you HPS style buds, but it will work. Did you break your HPS? :(
