Light Bulb Question

Hi,
I have a switchable 400w hps/mh system.. can i put a lesser bulb than 400w, like a 250w bulb?

Anyhelp is appreciated.

i would say no, the power runing through tha ballast would be for a 400- your 250 bulb would blow
