would anyone know???

Just wondering if anyone out there would be able to help me out...

I just took a home test about 2 weeks ago.. came back with a faint line. So thinking i was good I went into my probation (to get license restricted) and took one of their tests... well there was a faint line on that one too... well the probation officer said that still means positive so she gave me a choice to have it sent in to go to the hospital lab. I quit smoking about 45 days ago (maybe a few days longer now) I'm about 220 lbs... 5'9... and during those 45 days I drank lots of water and even took some vitamins for 2 weeks that cleanse your system... my worries are that the hopsital lab will read positive? Would anyone know about lab testing? do they detect even small amounts or should I be ok?

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I wanted to thank you for answering one of mine about the faint line, I have been showing a faint line for 2 weeks as of today, my first faint line showed up arround 30 days after quiting, and now I am at 48 days and still getting a faint line. Good luck and please let us know the outcome of your lab test.

don't worry man just chill the line on the test probably showed up cause of the vitamins those lines are meant to appear when there is something in your body system that is not suppose to be there naturally when your probation officer sends it to the hospital for the diagnostics it will come back saying what kind of shit was in those vitamins just for safety u might want to take the label of the vites so she will know what is in them and not try to violate u and don't worry they can not violate u for trying to cleanse your system out of chemicals \

Then how would you explain, at least in my case where on a 5 panel test the only line that appears faint is the THC line all the other 4 are bold and bright just like the control line, and, at least in my case I have injested nothing such as vitamins or other chemicals in over 2 weeks that could possibly interact with the THC test ?

Phatboy that didn't make any sense. The instant tests use an immunoassay that reacts to drug metabolites and not vitamins. Then a lab that would use GC/MS to verify any positives whether from an instant test or a sample that is sent to the lab right off the bat would not look for vitamins. Even lab tests use a type of immunoassay that reacts with drug metabolites but it is not in the form of a stick with lines.

Stoned, the reason why that line might not be as dark as other lines is because when you pass a test, it doesn't always mean you have none of the drug you are testing for in your system. There are cutoff levels to keep false positives down. The usual cutoff for THC is 50 ng/ml on immunoassay, in which they measure for 31 different metabolites (GC/MS is usually 15 ng/ml looking only for THC-COOH). If the line appeared showing a negative result, it only means you are below 50 ng/ml. You could be at 0 ng/m but that is still below 50. You could be at 25 ng/ml but that is still below 50 and still a pass. You may have some THC metabolites but not enough to fail.

So MaryJane, they do get a level back but there are cutoff depending on who is testing you and what they want to tolerate. Usually it is 50 ng/ml.

That's okay FakeBoobs, these days I can relate to not "up high enough", but I think you did indeed address the right person, after all I am the one with the faint line on the THC test on the 5 panel test.

I understand all you said, but it is still a scary thought that the line is so faint compared to the other 4. And I am sure it would throw a red flag up to those reading the results, now what I do not understand is why they test for 31 different metablites on the THC test, I am sure I could research it but perhaps you could elaborate, you appear to be very educated in these areas and your feedback is well appreciated

That's how my test came back to... the other lines on the test were bright red... the ones that tested for cocaine, meth, and like 5 other ones. but the THC was faint... so Stoned I am in the sam exact boat as you!!! Just to let you know. We'll see when the test comes back on Friday....
