long hits
I've been smoking for a while, but i'm not too sure if holding in your hits longer ives you a better hit. I've read that it does not matter after 2 seconds or soo, but all of my smoking buddys believe that if they hold it in for 10 seconds it will get them more high. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks

95% of the THC is absorbed almost instantly, as soon as the smoke hits your lungs. So, no, you won't get higher from holding in your hits for seconds upon seconds. You may get a little buzz from the lack of oxygen to your brain...but that's not a good thing. Also, it's been shown that the longer you hold your hits in, the more damaging it is to your lungs and the more it irritates your throat.
So yeah. I'd advise against holding it in for too long. I usually savor it for a second, then let it out slowly.

Agreed. Just inhale and hold it for a few seconds to "savor" as Luck said.

its more like 60 percent. but like 90% is absorbed within the first 4 seconds after that ur pretty much just gettin tar and everything else u dont want from your weed

Lol anyone know that old "5-second rule" some people would actually abide by? You know, the one that if you drop a piece of food, you could eat it if you picked it up in less than 5 seconds because the "bacteria wouldn't overrun" the food?
Lol I apply the 5 second rule to my smokage. Take it in, swallow, 5 secs, and let loose. I'll have to try downgrading to 4 secs now. Hehe.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Also, because the tar would be sticking to the lining of the lung, they'd actually get less high because less THC would be able to be absorbed through the tar.
