Does any one know what kind of rocks to use (heat) for a sweat lodge? I heard that river rock is good and I want to find something that won't explode. Thanks for your help.

We always use volcanic rock, they split, but don't explode. I'd be cautious about some river rock, since it's not all the same.
I don't know about sweat lodges, but I do know from using rocks to contain camp fires that you shouldn't heat any rock that could have water soaked into the pores to a high temp, because the water inside can vaporize and explode the rock. That means rocks from any body of water are out, and in general I steer clear of a rock that is on the shore of a body of water. You might be ok with some of these rocks, depending on how porous they are, but I had a rock that seemed to be non-porous explode once.
cool...was it like "DUCK!!!" lmaooQuote:

Why not get hold of some storage heater blocks?
BTW, as the general level of spelling on this site is poor (I include myself lol), are you sure you didn't mean 'sweet lozenge'? lol
