You can boil it, but make sure that it is a gradual increase in temperature. Don't drop the glass from room temperature into a 100 degree bot of boiling water, it may crack. Also, do not let it touch the metal parts of the pot or it will weaken.
Put your piece, 2 tablespoons of salt, and some alcohol in a ziploc bag and shake the bunch. The alcohol will turn brown. Rinse and repeat
If you're not interested in the resin for smoking when desperate times call for desperate measures, use rubbing alcohol by putting it in, swishing it around especially if it's a bong, and once it comes off the pipe rinse it out. This works really quickly compared to boiling.
If you use resin, boil and use coffee filters to catch the resin and allow to dry. When it comes to boiling glass, let the glass pipe heat up with the water. I've found that it's not necessary to let it cool down with the water, but don't put cold water on hot glass... my windshield still wears the scar of the day I suffered from a severe blonde moment. The sound of it cracking in half still haunts me... Anyway, just be real cautious when handling a hot glass pipe and not letting it hit anything. Set up a towel to put it on when you're done boiling.
I just soak it in mouthwash overnight. Then it even smells good.
nail polish works wonders with dirty pipes you just got to make sure to clean it out real good afterwords cause the nail polish is poisonous
Surely you mean nail polish REMOVER. I can't imagine nail polish doing anything good to your bowl.
Mouthwash, never thought of that, but it's a good idea. The alcohol in that would act like rubbing alcohol and dissolve the resin. Hmmm, thanks for the idea.
A friend of mine swears by 1 part mr. clean, one part bleach, two parts water, and a good long soak. rinse well.
Yes, with that concoction rinse very, very well.
i stick to the rubbing alchohol. i just take my (metal) piece apart and soak it in in alchohol for a day, then i get rid of wats left cuz eww..
