are on about 3 of my friend's plants. does anyone know what these are? they don't fit the description of spider mites, not being white and all but he is kind of new to this whole thing.

that actually does look liek a spider mite.....lol;)
after looking again, I think you are right cause I see little spider webs. Hopefully the brigher hotter light will kill them. I already see less of them.
Lighting is NOT going to kill spider mites. They are hell on earth to get rid of. There are numerous threads here on different methods of eradication. I'd go do some reading before they infest the plants.

the best method if your not in flower is to crank up the fuckin humidity no joke, last year i had a sinfull case of them, i was in veg, so i got a ultra sonic humidifier and put it on high, t he humidity was so dman high the leaves were wet...after that i never had them again
hmm, i've also been reading that a very simple method is to start organic and work your way up to harsher methods. In other words, foliage spray should suffice in most cases spare the more extreme.
yea the mites like a dry enviroment it seems, when i cranked up the humidity they vanished
