Need help: Watering
Germed 4 out of 5 seeds, all lowryders.
I have four 2-gallon pots that the lil' seeds are in.
Now my question is: How much water do I add into the pots? I've completed reading the Cannabis Grow Bible and it has no input on how much water should be given every watering. I've tried searching through the boards numerous times, but it seems the search tool has been acting funky the past couple of days.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you guys! :rasta:

I got a little water moisture meter at Lowes for $4, you stick it 2/3 the way down in your pot, and it has a scale of 1-4 with 1 being dry and 4 being wet. When it gets down to the 1-2 range I usually water, your pots will feel lighter too. If you have a couple seedlings, I would just check with your finger about an inch into the soil, and if it feels dry water it...someone else may tell you better I dunno

as soon as u can get the seedlings in individual pots u dont want roots tangled...keep the soil moist but not muddy, allways check water ph and soil if u can....the girls should pop out in a matter of days

People have warned me about planting seeds in large pots because too much water can leave the soil sogged for a long time because there are no roots to soak up the water. This can actully hurt root growth. SO they advised me to only water right around the plant stem while its a seedling one or two inches and do not go to far to the edges of the pot until the plant gets fairly big.
thats just what the grow shop said to me. It seemed to work out for me. Now I start in a small pot just to be safe and repot when the roots start to stick out of the bottom of the pot. Or when I know Its nessary

Thanks a ton. This really helped a lot. When I watered them today, I each gave them one dose of a small cup of water. probably around 4 fluid oz type of cup. I will look into the meter, which seems to be a realy usefull tool. I really appreciate all the feedback! If anyone else has any more input concerning the topic, feel free to add! Anything is appreciated!

Well dont give your seeds that much water. Only give them a taaaad bit. It'd also be helpful if you had a spray bottle and just spray the top of the soil a good few times. That has a high success rate. The key is to not saturate the soil if the seed hasnt popped up yet but just give enough for the taproot to thrive downwards in search for water and get stronger as the embryo leaves come about ^_^.

I have a related question kinda..
I set my soil up and wet it down befroe I germinated my seeds. Then I tried to get the soil to dry out in the sun but it hasen't.
I have put the seeds in the soil and they have sprouted and are in my cabinet. They lolok healthy and good. However the soil is still wet. this has happened to me before and it turned out fine in the end. but I was wondering
Is it more ideal that the soil drys out totally before you put a germed seed in the soil? Like would it be more ideal if my soil was only slighty wet witha spray bottle when I am putting my germed seed in there? My pots are small so they will dry out soon enough but is this slowing root growth slightly?
any help is greatly appreciated.

No, it's always good to the medium for young seedlings and seeds that hasnt spouted yet moist, just not saturated to the point where it's like muddy and crap.

My seedlings got raped under my lamp. Temps were reaching over 120 F. Oh well, my closet is so hot in there. I need the proper ventilation, and as of now I have no clue how to duct or install one of those dryers (hoses) that suck the air out of the lamp to the ceiling. Does anyone have feedback towards this? What are the proper tools to use to install something like this? The good news is that I have more seeds to germ, which is a good thought, but what sucked is that the seeds I germed, I had a 4/5 success rate. It was great and these tiny seeds cracked within 2 days, and gave about a 1/2" tail. =/. But back to my question, any feedback would always be appreciated :D
Thanks again! :rasta:
