first grow--will you help?
I've got 3 plants growing so far for about 2 weeks and they have all sprouted and about 5 inches. For lighting, i do 12 hours of the sunlight, i set the plant on the window, then when the sun goes down i place the plants under 3 soft white CFL's that are 150 watts (2600 lumen each). I have a pretty small wooden box, 12 inches high, 12 wide with foil on the sides. They get watered about every 12 hours. I am using miracle grow soil.
I will post pics soon, but does this sound alright? i dont plan on doing complicated stuff like pH testing and junk just because i have no idea what that is.
Already has leaves and 5 inches tall after 2 weeks, any idea how long until i get bud? and when do i start cutting down the light?

your lights are fine however you water way too much 2 weeks old water them about every 3-4days with 8 ounces of water untill they get bigger and get them out the MG soil its horrible to use it will cause you tons of problems and not using a PH tester will doom you from the beggining. read the FAQ

You shouldn't be watering that often, only when the soil is close to dry or dry, and take the foil away. They need air circulation while they're in the box.
Wait until they are the desired height, usually after a month or two, then switch to 12/12 and flower for a certain amount of weeks, however it takes for your plants to become "ripe".
Others can tell you all the rest.

to much water and not enough ventalation let them get dry on top then water 2 to 3 days letting them dry out a little will make the roots grow out to search for water

Guys seedlings need the soil to be constantly moist so letting the soil dry aint a good idea...also about the Miracle Grow, its a damm fine soil as long as u test (and u should) ur water ph and keep the ph at 8.0 (normally water ph for soil should be between 6.3 and 6.8).Also if u can keep the plants away from the window do it all indoor (2 late 4 outdoor right now unless ur south of the equador) plants that receive light through a window are exposed to heat spots and may be damaged because of these...appart from that ...happy grow m8

Btw foil also causes light to concentrate creating hot spots to its a bad bad thing to use as reflective material....use either mylar or flat white paint to reflect ur light.

The soft CFL's are not going to give you as good of results as warm or cool, 6500k for veg and 2500 to 3000k for flower. As for the foil I would leav it, just make sure that the dull side is the side showing. I need to get my wife to post some picks of my veg box with foil. Yes, flat white paint and milar are better, but in my veg cab I have absolutly no complaints. When I am done with my new 1000w cab I will probably change out the foil in my mother/clone cab, but it has worked vary nicely for all of the slack it gets.

pH at 8.0??? Why would you do that? You want your pH in your soil and your water to be around 6 to 6.5 for soil. Anything higher and your locking out nutrients.

Yes water ph at 8.0 with Miracle Grow, their soil is far to accidic and if u go through the boards u´ll find out that very experienced growers already experimented this...check out Garden Knowms post in basic growing on a Papaya with MG soil and let me know what do u think...:D
and btw soil and water ph should be between 6.3 and 6.8 :stoned:
