marijuana tax?

i just read about this marijuana tax stamp thing at norml http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=6670

is this true? my state actually has this and i was wondering if this actually works and if people actually do this so they dont get caught? i wouldnt mind making a trip to the post office or something to get some .40 cents a gram stamps so if i do get caught im not in trouble...

It doesn't work like that. You still can't have any green, but if you're caught with any, you're taxed on it. I used to live in NC and my best bud caught busted with possesion and on top of his lawyer fees and fines, he had to pay tax on his weed. It's not a loophole, just another way for the man to take your money.

dude timothy leary fought that in court and got it declared unconstitutional... they got rid of that years ago, probly at least two decades

WHO IS THAT IN YOUR AVATAR! i've asked you this so many times before lol! And actually I thought when marijuana was first banned they didnt have marijuana taxes. Thats why they did that because the government didnt make mj tax stamps so since there was no way to get them it was I guess, considered illegal :p.

ya they had constitutional problems with the rite to consum w/e u want ect so they made it so u had to have these stamps in order to be able to posses marijuana but they made it so u couldnt rlly get these stamps... therefor anyone with marijuana was arrested for not having the stamp

I'm affraid they didn't. It may not be used for extra punishment or something, but if you're busted in a tax stamp state, you pay tax on what you were possesing. You might not get extra time or anything for it, but you will pay it along with everything else.

A while back I read that and told my ex about it, he was living in SC at the time and actually went to his court house with half an o, asked someone there about it and they laughed at him and told him to get outta there and not come back.
