I want to get this [URL="http://www.hydroponics.net/items/details/multiflow.asp[/URL]
and run the lighting with a 400 watt ballast with both hps and mh. Would 400 be enough, if not what lighting would be needed to run 8-10 plants?

it will also be supported by 2 flourecent grow lights, unsure of the wattage, have to get them from a friend first
That setup is nice if you wanna buy everything. It would cost a lot less and be fairly easy to build it yourself.
a 400 wouldnt be enough bang for your buck. Try 2 600's or 1 1000 on a light mover.
I agree with Snoop. I looked into that system and they recommend those buckets on 18" centers minimum. And, that system is going to grow trees. As the plants get bigger you will get little if any light penetration to the lower sections of the plant. Remember, light = bud. Why grow 6' plants and only harvest from the very top? dual 600's or 1000 watt would be my choice.
I also agree that you could build that system for about half or less of what they are charging. All the parts are readily available on hydro shops all over the 'Net.

Thanks, yeah I thought it would be easy to build too, but my brother is the one doing most of the finacing, and I am doing the researching.
Sounds good..
Heres a start to your building

i have always heard that 400s penatrate deeper since you can keep them closer to the canopy.was i misinformed?
long as they are cooled correctly, you can get them close. 600 ballasts are usually more efficient then 400s as well. 1000 will have the best light penetration.Quote:
