One of the most negleted vitamins.
Vitamin D/D-3 prevents 16 types of cancers and is responsible for other processes of the body including muscle tone, which affects incontinence (loss of bladder control) and processes other vitamins in the body needed for such things as depression.
The northern lattitudes are known as the cancer belt for a reason where long periods of extended darkness in the fall and winter deprive us of this vitamin synthesized in the skin from sunlight.
Blacks and hispanics of dark skin in northern lattitudes need more vitamin D/D-3
The vitamin D derrived from milk is a very poor source. It is derrived from liquified sheepskin and sold back to the commercial dairies as an additive.
Not only that, it would take 20 glasses of milk to equal what you can make on your own in the sunlight in about a half-hour.
Your best source for vitamin D-3/D is first, in the spring in summer to get 20 minutes of 50% full exposure to the sun where it can be synthesized in the skin. In the fall in winter you need to supplement with the dry form.
A minumum of 1000 I.U. is needed and up to 4000 I.U./day.

20 minutes of sunlight=20,000 I.U. of D-3. It stores well in the body thats why 3 times a week is sufficient.
1 hour/week sunlight=roughly 60-100 glasses of milk. Although milk is a bad source, thats a lot of liquified sheep skin.
I guess that much sun might be ok if you are of dark skin, caucasian, Id say too much.
Supplementing this time of year in addition to sun isnt really neccessary in Northern Lattitudes.
The standard 400 I.U. in supplements in fall/winter under decreased daylight, extended overcast, indoor activity and covered skin outdoors is not enough though.
The majority of scientists are calling for a minimum of a 1000 I.U. (international units)
for degenerative disease prevention in the Fall and Winter seasons or for people who mostly stay indoors during Spring/Summer. Like elderly people or people with indoor jobs.
Elderly people have it the worst and explains osteoporosis and lack of calcium absorbtion/ estrogen via d-3 as well as incontinence and poor muscle tone.
I think most dermatologists have made an entire population paranoid about letting ANY sunlight on their skin for fear of skin cancer. Granted too much is a concern just as well as staying indoors or completely covered, or covered with sunscreen is. Obviously you cant synthesize d-3 when covered in sunscreen.
So it boils down to making adjustments with seasonal changes and what race skin color you have.

This confirms why I believe people should live in parts of the world indigenous to their genetics. Afrika for Afrikans. Not racist, only the environment outside of that land is inadequate for Afrikans. While on holiday one must eat the food indigenous to that part of the world to get adequate nutrition; forget bout McNasty's or KenDuttyFriedHeadlessChicken shops.
I feel sooo good when I am baking up in the heat of the sun. I am entirely happy, not just in mind but in body. England is Depressing; gray and overcast every god damn day.
This thread is relative to my thread in so far as Melanin is a receptor used for communication. That is the Cosmos communicating high doses of Vitamin D to anything with melanin. Does the Earths Soil have melanin? Is the energy from the sun communicated to soil and does the soil gain any nutrients from the sun? Is there vitamin D in soil?

i've lived in the UK for the last 16 years, having moved here from Africa.
Except I'm an Indian. I put on weight, became lazy and smoke waay too much dope!
When I was in Australia for a year, I was more active, lost weight, but still smoked waaay too much dope.
