Busted by the cops.

yeah so saturday I got busted by the police. Which is kinda dumb considering they didn't find anything on us...or even search us for that matter, but my friend who was with me admitted to smoking so i guess that was all the proof they needed. Anyway my parents were notified and are handling the situation pretty immaturely. They said once I turn 18 (which is in a few monthes) that I'll have to find a way to support myself, they also said while im under their roof I have to go to church for 3 hours every sunday (their mormon) and read the bible and stuff.

I just was wondering how you guys would handle the situation, would you quit smoking? or just be more secretive? I told them if they allowed within their house I wouldn't be in this situation anyway, and I told them I'm not going to disobey by smoking within their own house...I think this was a bad idea because they got really defensive about this so I started to kinda lie and act like I felt all guilty about smoking and acted like I need help..(which I regret now but their was a lot of pressure).

But yeah they honestly know nothing about it, they kept reffering to my "drug" problem, and how weed "impairs your ability to drive, even worse then alcohol".

So yeah any suggestions?

Its hard to give something up that is so fun but what your parents do for you and who they are is way more important than gods plant but its your decision i was in the same situation you are except my parents made me a deal either they would buy the weed i had left cause they found out that i smoke or i could smoke the rest of it and just not buy it ever again i chose to smoke it cause i will miss it very deeply but over the time they have not seen me smoke but they have realize i act no different and they allow me to make my own decisions since i showed them that people who smoke pot dont act completely off the wall

If they're truly going to kick you out, tell them to go fuck themselves.

Where the hell do you live? If my kid is 18 and has never tried weed I'm going to kick his ass. But seriously, there is no reason to stop. Just be more careful. Sounds like you weren't exactly careful to begin with to get caught like that so maybe this is your chance to straighten up and get smarter when it comes to situations like the ones you faced rather poorly.

Don't ever tell your parents to go fuck themselves. Thats some lousy ass advice that would not do anything but get you in even more trouble. What they dont know, dont hurt.. so just keep smoking and dont ever get caught.

You should have just told them you were experimenting and you were depressed over a girlfriend breakup or something and that you didn't really like it and will never do it again.

I totally agree. Try being Muslim and growing up in a baptist household...I know about forced religion all too well.

But I also know that, even if you're not a minor, if you're living in someones home and you're not putting in for anything, you go by the established rules in the house.

At least that how it always was in my family. After I dropped out of college, I moved back in with my parents. I was still bound my the rules of the house. A few months later, I got a job and started kicking in on the bills. At that point, the rules were modified. I was no longer their child, I was essentially a tenet and had all the rights of being one.

But one thing I would advise against is being sneaky. My brother did that after he got caught. He was subsequently thrown out and spent 1.5years of the streets of NY, homeless. He was staying at a shelter at the World Trades on 9/11 and only b/c he witnessed some crazy stuff did my mother allow him back in. He no longer smokes even though he's now paying bills so he doesn't have the 'restrictions' that he used to. Don't make a bad situation worse...

if it's not your belief tell them they are making their entire denomination look bad.

it's your decision, NOT THEIRS, if you want to partake in that religion or not.

and do not think for one minute that because they are your parents you have to go to church with them because they say so. if you don't believe in mormon, or any religion for that matter, do not ever let anyone force you into it.

You are bright enough to know which post is a valid choice. Do not disrespect your parents directly. I agree with sitting down and having a mature conversation about the situation. Once someone yells, the communication is over. You mentioned till your 18 in three months...how long did you expect to stay there after that? Do you have a job?

You could be in jail if it had got ugly. It is cool you are not. On the note of getting into trouble...do any of your friends have some serious change to post your bond with? Who will be the person you make your "ONE" call to? Your parents? to come save their child from jail? Show them respect, this will show you have matured...you are only talking about 90 days !!!

I know some moroms so can kind of understand that. Just do it. You said it was for 3 hours on sundays. That means keeping peace between you by going to church for about 36 hours. Keep your mind open and listen, you may not agree at all but it won't hurt you. IF you all don't blow this into more than it is..and you keep yourself out of trouble with the law. Then one day you all might even be able to laugh about it. But not if it becomes WW3 in "their" home.

REMEMBER IT IS JUST 90 DAYS! You planed on being a man and moving out when you turned 18 anyways right?
