Tempted to try smoking weed...
Hello there,
I don't drink alcohol as i am recovering from an illness and i have never smoked a cigarette in my life. However, i have always been intrigued with what weed can do for you. I am quite nervous about trying it as i don't know what to expect, any first time experiences would help me alot.
Also, i'm worried about it making me feel badly sick, i don't want to smoke it with tobacco at all, so what would your best method be and how much would you suggest to try? Also, how long will it last?

its normal to be nervous at first but when you take your first toke, you'll say to yourself "This is weed?". Either you won't really get high your first time, or you'll get fuckin' baked. Also try and bring something to drink during or after your joint to avoid cotton mouth. The high itself will probably last around 45 - 1 hour and the feeling will linger for another 2 - 3 hours

Thanks, do you think i will have bad nausea off it? Or will end up coughing my guts up as i've never smoked before?

I hope you're not recovering from some type of cardio-pulmonary illness that affects your breathing. If you've never smoked anything of any kind, inhalaing weed smoke or any smoke may be rough. Even high-quality weed isn't gentle. Try it and see what happens, but you can probably expect to cough. I'm a non-cigarette smoker who's probably smoked weed for a total of two years in my life, and inhaling weed gives me coughing and breathing trouble even now.
The first few times I smoked back in college, I didn't feel anything at all. I probably had to do it five or seven times before I felt anything. I've heard this story from others now, too, and Oniehtredrum alluded to it above. In some folks, it takes some repeated exposure to get your cannabinoid receptors activated so you'll begin to feel the high.
Here's hoping you'll be lucky and won't have any trouble inhaling and that you'll get happily high the first time!

Marijuana actually helps to reduse nausea. And you probably will cough a bit but not too hard

The THC in weed helps to relieve nausea in a lot of people, but this board and others like it are full of experiences from first-time smokers who smoked and then vomited.
I don't think anyone knows why that happens, but my theory is it's probably the unfamiliar smoke and resultant coughing combined with maybe an overload of all the substances you're inhaling for the initial time mixed with a touch of anxiety. Inhaling any type of irritant can sometimes tickle the back of the throat and provoke the gag reflex. Alcohol is often being ingested, too, and that'll increase the risk of getting sick. My guess is that some or all of these factors just makes new weed smokers sometimes get sick at their stomach.
Fortunately, from what I've read, most of these brave, courageous people haven't let their first-time barfing experience deter them from trying again and successfully becoming non-vomiting smokers. The key seems to be to take it nice and easy until you know how you'll react.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychotomimetic compound from Cannabis sativa that induces anxiolytic-like effects similar to diazepam in animal models of innate aversive behavior. However, the effects of CBD contextual conditioned fear have not been studied. Therefore, the aim of this work was to compare the behavioral and cardiovascular effects of CBD and diazepam, a prototype anxiolytic, in animals submitted to a contextual conditioned fear paradigm. Male Wistar rats were submitted to a 10min conditioning session (six footshocks, 2.5mA, 3s, delivered at pseudo-random intervals). The behavioral and cardiovascular responses to the context were measured 24h later in a 10min test session. Diazepam (2.5mg/kg), FG-7142 (8mg/kg), a benzodiazepine inverse agonist, or CBD (10mg/kg) were administered i.p. before the test session. Conditioned rats submitted to the aversive context exhibited more freezing behavior and a larger increase in blood pressure and heart rate as compared to non-conditioned animals. These effects were attenuated by CBD and diazepam in the conditioned animals. These drugs did not have any effect in non-conditioned rats. FG-7142 treatment failed to change the behavioral and cardiovascular responses to the aversive context. In conclusion, the results suggest that CBD has anxiolytic-like properties similar to those of diazepam in a rat model of conditioned fear to context.

Well dont smoke weed if people are telling you to and give into peer pressure only smoke it if YOU actually want to...
Of course its normal to be nervous, but once you smoke it more often you will get used to it,
If you dont want to smoke if with tobacco then you have a few options, bong, pipe, joint (just weed) although i think it will be quite harsh for you as you have never had a cigarette in your life but you'll get used to it.
If you get sick that just means its too much for your body to handle so just make sure that you know your limits and take it easy!
It depends on how much weed you have but the high should last for roughly 1hr+
To be honest (because you have never tried smoking before) you will probably find it quite harsh on your throat and cough quite a lot and you will probably think its disgusting but you just have to allow your body to get used to it!
Hope this helped you Maddy :)

first time smoking you are pretty much gaurenteed to cough. if you take a big hit and start coughing for like a min. straight that's normal so don't freak out or anything. myself along with tons of friends cough like crazy the first time... but it's not going to kill you.
just try it it's worth it...
