Ok so one day I did just wake up and decide I want to grow weed. But that day was like a year ago and I havent forgotten it.
I am thinking of making a ply wood rectangle 2x2x8 feet with a 2.5 foot compartment on the bottom for vegging, and a 5.5 foot compartment on the top for flowering.
I plan to put this together with a door on the front and whatnot, but im not sure what I should do to the inside. Should I paint it white, or put tinfoil around the inside?
I have found this lamp for the top, and this lamp for the bottom. And I have even more questions about these. Do I need a ballast and whatnot for the bottom lamp, or can I just screw it into any light socket?
Uhh I think thats pretty much it. Am I doing this right? lol.

Two chambers in the same box - you have to make sure that the flowering (top) chamber does not get any light leaked in from the bottom.. This will also mean you need 2 ventilation/exhaust setups, or some crazy creative ducting between them. Plus you will need 2 doors, so that you can keep the flowering chamber closed when/if you want to work on the bottom chamber
Flat white paint rather than aluminium foil anyday - The foil can wrinkle and fold, causing hotspots.
The bottom lamp is a mogul base, so it won't fit in a normal size (medium) socket. It will also need a ballast, capacitor and igniter, since it is an HID lamp.
For the bottom chamber you might consider using regular compact flouros. Much cheaper and decent results if you use enough wattage.

Actually, is it possible to have only 1 compartment, move the height down to 5 or 6 feet and use only the HPS light. Can I then grow the weed from seeds to flowering, then cut them down and regrow right after harvest? Because that would be a lot simpler to make!! lol

your original plan is golden... but use tokudai's advice and you will have one solid ass grow.
Definately go with CFLs for the veg down below and install two diferent exaust fans. and the two door idea is key also.
Then when your done building it... plug everything into a surge protector, and plug the surge protector into a light timer. Then you have to do shit except water the sluts.
And if you really wanna be pimpin... custom build a timered watering system... Then it will really be 'out of site out of mind'

Nope - I mean it COULD work, but you will have to flush and reveg them and it will take forever between harvests. What if you pop 10 seeds and have 8 males? Some plants don't like to reveg, excess salts buildup from nutes, rootbound conditions- lots of problems that you don't want to have to deal with
The beauty of the 2 compartment system is that if you time everything right, the day you harvest the top, you will have some ready to put back in there to start the flower session - You are vegging the next batch while the top are flowering.
Lets use an 60 day flower cycle for ease of illustration.. (flowering time will be completely strain dependant for best results though, so this schedule will need to be fine tuned to your plants, your skills, space and lighting, and how big you want plants to be before flowering)....
Ideally you'd want a veg chamber suitable to house clones and a mommy in 'til they are the height you want to start them flowering.
1.) You move them up top (call this day 0), feed mommy to get her to start making new shoots and get ready to cut clones from.
2.) In about ~ 3 weeks (day 21) take clones from mommy, and stop feeding her (water is fine, but you don't want her to take over...).
3.) Say the clones take ~ 2 weeks to root (day 35). Now the top is only 25 days from harvest day. This gives you 3+ weeks to veg them to the height you want. Plenty of time for healthy clones to get a good size.
4.) Harvest day ~ YAY - now go back to step one.
I probably made that seem a lot more difficult than it really is... It's not that hard. Cuts the period between harvests way down though, so its worth knowing how to do, on any scale from personal to commercial. Nothing worse than running out and having to wait 60+ days for the next batch, or going out and buying it.
If you had 2 different mommies, you could alternate them and harvest different type of buds each time....
