First timer ...
Alright, I just started my very first grow ... I germinated two seeds in a cup of water, both grew nice little starter roots about an inch and a half long. I put one of them in a pot with pearlite and Jiffy Mix non-soil potting mix ... I watered it with some bottled water as soon as it got in there. I think the mix might be a bit acid though so I fear it'll encourage a male.
The second seed is still in the water ... and it's gonna stay there until it sprouts. I know that sounds weird, but my Mom does it with plants all the time and I decided to try it out. Might work, might not.
Anyway, I'm on an incredibly limited budget. I've only spent $14 so far, and I only can devote about a hundred a month to it really. I think it'll just be a good practice for next year. Anyway, that's what I'm doing. Any advice from anyone? I'd especially like stinkyattic or gardenknowm's help ...

if you have a limited budget i say you just plant them outside and let them grow, thats the cheapest you can go imo.

I considered that, but the problem is that I'm in Washington State and it's late July ... way the hell too late to expect any kind of a yeild. But next year I will do that with at least one plant. Actually ... just for the sake of testing, I think I'll plant my other seedling out there. :)
Oh, and I had an idea ... a big tall wardrobe box (cardboard, cheap, but really tall and sufficiently wide), lined with mylar ... put lights inside and all that jazz ... would that be an okay grow cabinet? I'd modify it a bit more than that, of course.
