Hey Everyone
I am looking to hear anyones first hand experiences of daily pot smokers who have switched to vaporizing for more than the last 6months or so.
I am curious if you notice any health related differences. Do the high end devices live up to their health claims? Can you tell if you are getting less toxic vapors? I've heard all the hype but really haven't heard any solid testimonials.

A while back I bought a vaporiser-not a very good one mind (they are very expensive), because i was curious and felt guilty about my lungs, as I was smoking quite a lot back then.
You don't need much in the vaporiser for it to really hit you. Because it is only a fume as opposed to smoke you can inhale deeply and hold it for a few seconds-it soon gets you zonked.
I get a nice body high using a vaporiser I don't get with a joint or pipe, and if I have a bit more it i often quite psychedelic-colours, patterns, shapes in clouds, moving images on carpet etc. If you overdo it though your pulse goes way up. For me anyway, there is definately a difference between the high you get using a vaporiser, compared to using a joint or pipe.
Not only is it better for your lungs but you need a lot less weed for the desired effect.
True. It takes less weed to get you high, and the high is much more potent. It's like, you don't get that "stuck to the floor" high from smoking from a pipe, you get more of a "jesus, I'm flying" kind of energetic high. The smell is like hay, not MJ, and it tastes like hay too. But, it's worth it.
The only drawback is the price of a unit. But, I have a solution. As a college student, one has to improvise smoking accessories at times due to lack of funds. I wanted to try vaporizing at home (I had done it at parties and such), but i didn't have the $ for a good one (www.vaporgenie.com I highly reccomend getting one of these if you can, or try www.inavap.com). So, I made my own. Here's how:
Take a clear light bulb, hollow out the insides and remove the bottom metal part. Take the top to a water bottle (plastic, Aquafina or Evian, whatever.), just the spout, and duct tape that bad boy onto the bottom of the bulb. Then, screw the cap on the bottle part and punch 2 holes into the cap with a knife or something. In one hole, insert a straw (or a pen, hollowed out, or some tubing from a hooka, or whatever you can find), use the other one as a carb. You grind your weed up, put it in the bottom of the bulb, screw the top on the bottle, heat the weed just until it smokes a little (It's actually a white vapor, that's the good shit, so don't let it condense.) Take a slow, long hit fromthe straw (or pen) and hold it. Then, exhale. I guarantee after 4 or 5 of these, you'll be pretty well fucked. :D
It's a little McGyver, and you feel wierd doing it, but when you only have an 1/8th to last 2 weeks, and you smoke like I do,this is the way to make your shit last. I was already a bit of a McGyver smoker, so I don't feel bad. Try it out. E-mail me for more specific descriptions or a picture, or just google "build vaporizer light bulb".
Oh, and to answer your question, they are DEFINITELY worth every penny, there is no better way to smoke, both for body and mind. The hits feel harder sometimes, and you'l cough a bit at first, but it's not bad at all. Wurked Fer mee!!
I started using a vaporizer about 1 1/2 months ago. The hits feel nice and smooth compared to smoke. Its kinda a sweet taste i think, and It kinda feels like your lungs get a little numb when you inhale the vapor. The high hits you about 5 minutes later after you vaporize. The high is much more........expanded feeling.....thats why they say it gives an expantion effect. and the best part is, there barely is a downer. I just notice that Im not high anymore and dont feel as tired as i would feel if i had smoked.
I think that this is due to that fact that not all cannibinoids are released at the temp the vapor is released giving you only a certain cannibinoids which get you high. For example some cannib. are known to have a slow come on have a longer lasting duration (we'll call A), while others come on fast, but dont last as long (we'll call B). THC vaporizes at somewhere around 200 degrees, if i remember right. So A is being vaporized at 200 degrees, while B doesnt, giving you a slow come on, long lasting high. If you have ever smoked some vaporized bud, it tastes like shit, burns hot, and gives you a fast but short high.
I have to add that after using my vaporizer for a while and trying to smoke a bowl, the smoke tastes different than i remember. I taste like a hot tar type of taste that i didnt before, so i dont really like to smoke.
