Specific question regarding power cables
Right, not sure where this topic should go but since I need to info to finish my canna growing room I put it here.
I have this ventilation system that I will use for two purposes, refreshing the air and lowering the temps.
For refreshing the air, I have a timer. For lowering the temp, I have a temperature controlled switch. What I want to do is that, regardless of the timer, once the temp in my growing room is too high, it should start up the ventilation system.
What I have in mind is using connectorthingies (kroonstenen lol), I want to double the cables coming from the vent. So I will end with four instead of two. One pair I want to connect to the timer, the other pair to the temp switch, this way both switched can control the vent regardless of eachother.
Would this be a problem? Is this a dangerous construction when for example, both switches give power? I am a noob concerning power issues
;)
Thanks

yea that's the same way I have mine set up...just make sure that you use the same plug on your wall for each fan, that way you know your pulling power from the same circut.

it would be much safer if you bought a standard wall plug and use your elec cable as intended instead of splicing in a 2nd line into it. it's also best to have someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to adding to or changing power lines...many homes are lost each year to faulty wiring.

I read this post and I am like 99% sure (blame that one % on the haze I just smoked), that I wrote this topic ;) No clue why its not listing me as being the author.
Anyway, thanks for the advice, I had an expert come over who is to be trusted and it seems my setup is safe.

That sounds like it MIGHT work ok. I'm also thinking an envrionmental controller would be a better way to go if youre not too savy about electricity. Green Air {and others i'm sure} makes controllers to cover every possible aspect of the envrionment in any size room, and they are "plug n play" for the most part. I have one that controls co2, {i dont use co2 anymore} humidity, and temp. Its worked flawlessly for yrs and is fully adjustable which is nice for the different seasons. Mine is a lower end model and dont remember the price {about $150.00 i think} But its been worth its weight in gold for keeping the temp and humidity within 10 degrees. Theyre somewhat pricy for someone just getting set up tho.
And yeah, for sure, please dont think any question about wiring and electricity is stupid, and ask MANY people for advice if its going to become a safety issue. Most folks arent aware that if you burn down your home because of grow room or an illegal activity, the homeowners insurance will not cover the loss. Be safe and good luck

Temperature control is working with this setup. We had a very hot week last week for dutch standards and I've been able to get the temp between 27/28 constantly. In winter I may need to install a heater for lightsout period.
Yes agree with you, there are no stupid powerquestions.. I would hate myself forever if I would burn this house down that my gf and me moved in a couple of weeks ago ;)
