emo sucks

i know a kid who would slit his wrist act down all the time. thinkin his life sucks when he lives in a big house. parents have nice cars and suv. dont get emo:mad:

I don't want this to sound mean at all, but just because someone has nice things doesn't mean they are happy. And stero-typing people (slitting you're wrists is not something all people who listen to emo do) is just causing more of a problem. These are very sensitive issues that shouldn't be thrown around and made fun of.

I listen to emo. It isn't that mainstream punk shit.

Emo to me is bands like Radiohead, Grandaddy, Wilco, Flaming Lips, etc.

These bands either 1. write some of the greatest love songs in history or 2. convey emotion in a perfect rainy-day sense. What does slitting wrists have to do with it?

Actually, you're all wrong about the meaning of the word "emo". It stands for "emotionally-driven hardcore", a genre that a whopping zero (0) of the bands you've listed fit into. Emo in its true form was around way before the derivative shit that everyone listens to nowadays - most of that is watered-down pop-punk, something that doesn't even slightly resemble hardcore metal.

And before this one gets to be an issue, indie isn't a genre at all.

Why is it that people speak out against materialism (the whole "money can't buy happiness" thing) but then turn around and criticize those more well-off financially for having the slightest inkling of dissatisfaction? Could it be that they, themselves, don't believe what they're so eager to preach and are (gasp) jealous?

im confused whos jealous? my house is the same sizeand the origin of the thread was emo. what i was saying is hes taking it for granted
